Pulling out of a junction and my battery light starts flickering.
Queue smell of plasticky and rubber burning along with squeaking.
Limped car home and now just left it. Alternator was new only 6 weeks ago. Only done 500 miles. Absolutely fuming. Can't take car back to garage as I got it replaced whilst on holiday.
It was replaced under AA warranty so hopefully they can honour the repair.

Might not be the alternator, it could be one of the idler or tensioner pulleys or water pump seized which would cause the alternator belt to burn out.

Had a quick look and it seems to be that. Hope it is an idler or tensioner as that would be easy to repair.
Would a tensioner or pulley cause battery light to come on?

Yes, if a pulley, etc, is seized, this could prevent the belt from revolving and hence the alternator would be stationary.

Ahhh I see. I'll check it properly 2moro, finished a 12 hour shift and a gym session so not really in the mood to poke round engine 2nite
