Hi all

Our ML270 has a distinct 'whine' to it as you drive. The noise is present regardless of engine revs, coasting or accelerating. Not loud and seems to come from all around.

Not long after buying the ML I changed all the tyres to budget ATs made by Infinity. I'm just wondering if it could be the tyres as I don't recall the noise being present before that. I thought tyre noise would be more of a rumble than a whine?

Any thoughts? Drivetrain maybe?

Thanks

Simon

The diffs can whine slightly.

Is this when the steering wheel is turned, or straight line?

If straight line, at what speed does it get drowned out by other noise?

If its tyres, the 'whine' will sound different as you drive over different road surfaces......tarmac/concrete, etc

Otherwise, possibly the prop centre bearing is the source of the whine

Its making the noise in a straight line and I guess the sound goes away above 60mph or so. Center bearing expensive?

Thanks
