Hello

My father in laws ML270CDi has just failed its MOT today, its (I think) a 2000 pre face lifted model.

It failed on the rear brake pipes and the rear fuel pipe is coroded.

I havn't spoken to him but my wife past the message on and hope the forum could help....

Is this an OK fix / DIY fix? / Parts exspensive etc etc?

Can they me upgraded while having it done or doing it ourselfs? as the car does very very few miles maybe 2500 a year ?

over to the forum.... thanks

My Discovery has just had the front to rear brake pipes done (you could snap them with your fingers - thanks to the guy I had just bought it from!). They are in the chassis so a body off job (supposedly)!

However, the specialists just run new copper tubing in place of the old pipes with new unions. Being copper, rust is no longer a factor. Pipes were £32 and £6 for 4 unions...

...was £200 for labour though!

MB wanted £900 for a new, rear brake pipe on my car last year but an independent in Krikham, near Preston came to the rescue and replaced it for a LOT less. Still required the removal of the rear axle though! There is a pic of it on the forum somewhere :)
