ML320 w164 gearbox failure

Hi, after some advice please on my 2007 w164, 75,000 miles, full MB history.
Gearbox has had interment problems recently with revs jumping around 2000 revs, like the gears slipping. Also when a clearing at faster speeds. Had it checked in last month when serviced by MB and no issue found.
Today, moved off at junction, very loud bang under car, and no gears at all. Just revving in any gear. No warnings on dash. As not driveable, Have had car recovered to same dealer awaiting inspection next week. Any ideas, could this be failed torque converter ?

Have you sorted it, if not get in touch, with chassis number

Doubt it's the torque converter. Sounds like 'the bang' was just the instant loss of drive. There are various issues the 7g suffers from but none of the are product wide problems.
Will be interesting to know the findings
