Ml350 folding mirrors hitting door

had yhis problem on a 2009 ml350 since we brought it a year ago. The folding mirrors only stop folding once they have thudded against the door leaving g a strip of paint that is rubbing through. I can’t belibe the only way to fix this would be to replace them. The cost would be huge. But there is deffo no way to adjust them. Anyone help at all?

My 06 GL drivers door mirror does this and it looks like it always did. I fixed it by not folding the mirrors in when locking the car any more! Apparently this is also a good idea to protect the wiring to the mirror which is susceptible to damage.
