ML420 - Impossible to Sell ?

I have always had good results off of eBay as I dont think as many buyers put mileage related search queries in. I think eBay extends your market reach but hey who am I to comment.

^^^ do you use auction or buy it now when you sell on ebay? He has already been let down a couple of times by auction winners.

Okay guys.

The auction has active bids and is running. Been offered a reasonable amount and guy claims he will pick up (Warts and All) on Friday.

Wonder whether or not it will happen but will keep you informed, otherwise I'm at the mercy of the auction unless something else comes in.

At the same time - I have had some offers (sadly slightly under my mental limit) however they are genuine buyers and appreciate their knowledge and demeanor.

You cannot change the description/title/lead image once you have active bids however should it not meet it's Auction Reserve then I'll most certainly take my pic of the above Critique and take action.

hi again.
I go by the motto "a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush". If you feel you're getting desparate, take the best offer on the table. The longer you wait the more risk you have of not getting the same, or better, offer.
Just my 2p.
Nick.

You'd better change the tax info as it won't have any tax when you sell it. You'll need to claim the tax back too.

I was looking for one of these but after much deliberation went for an ML500 instead.

After looking around you can get a better ML500 for similar money and also, the running costs are barely noticeable, when you factor possible engine issues with a higher mileage diesel then the 500 wins.

The ML420 is a cracking car but at that mileage, i'd rather have an ML500.

Good luck with the sale though as it's a lovely car.

As an example, I picked up a 2006 ML500, 60,000 miles with full Merc warranty from a dealership, same spec but no off-road pack (Not a selling point on these kind of cars imo, just an amusement) for £12,000.

Dave!

I looked at this before buying a cheaper car.

First comment is you've highlighted that it's a 4.0 V8 in title. I'd mention Diesel as well otherwise if browsing would skip over. It's rare car and many will presume Petrol

Second comment is if I was paying £10k for a car I would not expect a £100 repair to be left.

Goodluck with it.

160 Torques Though !

I would say you did well there though. Does it roar ?

People buy an ML420 because they want one so actively look for one, it's not a car i'd class as an impulse purchase.

Mine has a nice growl to it but is mainly nicely subdued.

The extra torque is not felt, this car should have been released with the 5 speed gearbox so the torque can do the work, the 7 speed wants to change down too much which is a shame.

If I was towing, i'd have this in a heartbeat though. Have you tried selling it on the race car websites, some have tow vehicle, trailer sections etc and I think this is perfectly suited to someone who wants a good tow car with a bit of grunt. http://racecarsdirect.com/

A real shame they removed these engines from the UK, it's one of Mercs finest imo.

Dave!

I spotted Tom's advert on ebay a couple of weeks ago and was very tempted. I had been looking for an ML500 or E500 to replace our old ML270 cdi. I had not appreciated that it was possible to get a ML420 cdi for under £12K.

In the end I went for a black 420 with full MB service history. I have only had it a week, but I am seriously impressed.

It feels far superior to the W163 model - especially on the standard airmatic suspension. I am also amazed at the fuel economy. On my first journey of 160 miles of mainly busy motorway and dual carriageway it achieved 32mpg.

Tom's car appears excellent value I am surprised it hasn't been snapped up. I would have bought it if I hadn't found the black one at a similar price.

Hi folks - I have actually to confess that Paul is responsible for me joining the forum. I have some notes to add below however - good news !

I have now managed to sell the car, for 10980 and fortunately I have been able to keep the tow pack and the BlueTooth Pack.

Whilst it's less than I wanted to sell for initially, it's now up to 110k miles and the SRS error I didn't have to pay for as the buyer owns a specialist so didn't seem deterred.

Thanks for your help and support, just goes to show that there are genuine people out there.

On a side note, now I have a OEM MB Bluetooth Puck (With no box, but have original instruction manual) if anyone wants ? I was amazed to find them at 265 on eBay... (New)

You mean a HFP module?

What do you want for it?

I have had a look online and I believe it is an HFP yes. It worked with my iPhone 5s and most recently 6 so it should be latest version.

Would 145 tempt you ?

Too rich for me, I paid £100 for my last one, thanks. Mercedes parts offered me one for £150 plus VAT brand new.

Stick a for sale advert on the forum, you might find a buyer.

I'll do 100 as you have been very helpful with your advice.

Does that work for you SPX ?
