AMG badge was on from previous owner and Ive never liked it on.

Mine is about to be, perhaps not for forever but the bodyshop put the badges in the wrong place...

My friend has his E39 M5 debadged on the boot... but it has plenty of other badges and give aways around the car to let everyone know what it is (along with a monstrously loud but equally gorgeous soundtrack from the quad tail pipe), rather tasteful IMO.

Debadge all IMO. As said by others its more a sleeper like that and the connoisseurs will always know the difference. All my previous and current MB's are debadged including the real AMGs

A friend had many years ago one of the first VW GTI's. Debadged the GTI and put Golf D. Freaked everybody including attendants at petrol stations who fought to pour diesel in the tank

yes they do. My C55 was de-badged. Not any more though..
