The seller looks to be a dealer, not a private seller, but of course it may have been his personal wheels; it's not an AMG; it doesn't have 356 bhp unless it has a 5.5 M113 from an SLK55 in it. If the rest of the description is accurate-ish (he's a dealer..), though, you get a low-mileage W164 with an M113, and a clean MoT history, for not much money. If it had an NTG2.5 COMAND I'd be tempted, but only if he put a new MoT on it.

It may have the M273 engine, which would probably be 356bhp, the tax price maybe reflects this?

No, it has an M113. I think it's probably a typo for 306 bhp, which would be right. The higher tax rate bands, based on emissions, came in just before it was registered, I think.

I think it's sold now anyway, did you buy it Dennis??

No fear. If it had had an M273 and NTG2.5 I probably would have, though.

Apart from the engine confusion it did look like a really nice clean bus, If i didn't have the Honda CR-V i would have been tempted ....

I bought my first AMG from a small-time dealer purporting to be a private seller. It was fine.

I see its no longer available
