Not been around for a while had a few diesels since my cla45. Ive wanted an ml63 forever. I can afford a 15plate 5.5. I only do a bit of pottering about eves and weekends no more than 5k a year but I’m worried the fuel costs will take the shine from ownership? I can live with 25mph general Ave? Anyone experience on here?

Usual rule applies to AMGs, if your worrying about fuel costs then they arent the cars for you.

Of all the AMGs, MLs are particularly thirsty due to their mass, however 5k miles a year isnt too far.

Totally get that, I’m not worried as such I took out 4.8 cayenne and got 25mpg from that I’ve had m3s cla45, 135msport, loads of 4x4s. I’m running a diesel 3ltr cayenne now which probably costs me £20 a week but if that jumped to £60 a week I’d be soon shifting it on....

I have a 5.5 ML63 and running cost, petrol 14-18 round town better on a run.
The pleasure it gives to drive make it worth every penny, I don't go far each week, £20-30 is all I put in.
We went down to Portsmouth last year from the midlands and back on £85.
I do know of one with PP for sale

That sounds acceptable my 135 was doing about 17mpg! My Cayenne is only 30mpg average. It’s a total pleasure car so I’m buying smiles not cheap miles we’ve got other vehicles for that I just wanted to hear someone say it’s worth it really I’ve not found one to test drive but have sat in one. My friend owns an mb specialist so mechanicals don’t worry me. My Cayenne is up for sale what’s the details on the one you speak of?

It’s a guy I now needs to free up some cash.
White with pan roof and P30, brown designo trim, cooled seats.
I can get the full spec later.

Like most heavy 5L+ AMGs, don't expect more than 15-20mpg around town. On the motorway budget around 25mpg.
I imagine you'd spend around £40-50 p/w given your current expense.

I'd agree that 15-20mpg is about for most of these kind of cars. My XC90 does 19. The QP does about 19. The 4200 about 18. The E60 M5 liked a drink.....12-13mpg in the time I had it. The E55K was 18.

Mines does 10mpg around town and 20mpg on a run.

14.5mpg Average, no bullshit about the figures there

Otherwise absolutely love the car, try and get a late one that's specced.

Thanks for the heads up, I lived with 19 on my m3 for a while and an old 996 911 I had was similar, neither gave the practical space or huge amount of power and v8 theatre! I’m sure it’s worth a little extra, as I say I have a van, car and motorbikes if I need frugality. The Cayenne is going to be a tough car to beat all round it’s a joy to own and drive but it’s just another diesel underneath. I will be getting the best spec I can, in black I think probably 64 plate.

Hi,
Our 2015 ML63 with PP has averaged 18 l/100km (16mpg approx) since new - having now covered 78,000 Kms.
It returns around 21mpg on long motorway runs.
Other than fuel and servicing - it eats brake pads (probably due to the radar cruise control) and tyres!
Cheers
Steve

You only pay 1/6p a gallon though :p:D:rolleyes:

Looked at a 62 plate today 2013, covered 50k. It was 2 owner and had obviously been cherished not a mark! 21s, red calipers, sunroof, heated seats, hk, nav/dvd, elec boot, folding mirrors, rear camera, 4 new tyres. Very good price full history. Bit older than I intended but it was immaculate. My brother works for MB and checked it’s history out. Local dealer has had it about 5 weeks. I’ll try and sort a test drive.

You'll love it. My favourite fast SUV.

Remember all you list it stock.
Look for rear heated seat, front cooled seats HK sounds, 21” alloys, pan roof is nice.
