[MOANING] warnings on old tv programmes

Is it just me or does anyone else get annoyed by the "warnings" that get put on old tv progs when they are shown today such as "this prog was made in xx and reflects the language and attitude of the times and which might offend some viewers"

Been watching a lot of old stuff on rewind tv and to me the warnings are offensive!
I was even MORE annoyed on behalf of our Generation Z/Woke Culture Youth:

I watched TWO Episodes of "Auf Wiedersehen Pet the other night and nowhere at the beginning, or after the Adverts did it Warn me of the fact that the Programme contained Young Folk willing to Travel, further than their Front, Door Actively LOOKING for Paid Work in order to Provide for their Families!:oops::dk::doh:

I was so Disgusted I had to "Go APP the Pub";)

If any body is interested there are some Benny hill episodes on you tube albeit they have French overdubbing but Benny's humour was mainly visual anyway.

Oh, and the hills angels look gorgeous..... no tat's, no trout pouts etc just beautiful girls.

And whilst on the subject has anybody also noticed even single words get removed from the dialogue in old progs

Why the obsession with watching old programmes you've seen before? New programmes don't carry historic trigger warnings.

As I've said before:

It's time the 99% of us who are not offended by every slightest thing stop bending over backwards to appease the 1% that are.

And that's with life in general....not just TV.

I'm one of your 99% and I don't 'bend over backwards to appease' anyone. I don't indulge in the victimisation of minorities though - which is all that is asked of anyone.

But to be fair, I could say the same about a lot of the modern "comedians"!
There are actually quite a few very funny modern comedians about, you just don't get to see them on TV.

Name me eighty of them........ 😁

(Don't really need to know, post is for comedic effect........😇)

What an insightful fascinating thread.

I too have seen these kind of ‘warnings’. I’m not bothered one bit by them. In fact I think it’s important to acknowledge outdated programmes, broadcasts and stage acts.

‘Oh we’re only havin a laugh’ I hear you say. That old chestnut. 😊

If you’re happy to enjoy the program, just ignore the warnings. Simples. 👍

Another moaning thread.

I noticed that old episodes of 'Allo, 'Allo! strangely do not contain a warning that the program was recorded at a period time in our history when Britain was still seen as good and the Nazis were still seen as bad....

And don't get me started about 'Zulu'..... or 'A Passage To India'....

Lol....I think it's generally agreed that the Nazis where a pretty bad bunch!

I don't think it's moaning, just interesting observations on the "progress" of social awareness and the vagaries of what TV channel owners consider we should apparently be ashamed of. I regard these warnings as ironic anyway, having regard to all the violent action films, dramas and "reality" stuff shown on the tellybox.

I wonder what the reaction would be if the Beeb screened an episode of the Black and White Minstrel Show?

It's Moaning, it's us the "Old Gits" we could "MOAN" for the Olympics!:oops::dk::thumb:
