hi

i want to fit a mobile phone holder into my car... however i dont want to drill into the dash. on my old car (mondeo) i bought a DASHMOUNT bracket but a metal bracket from dashmount is not availbale for the W208 CLK. Any ideas where i can get a similar item for my CLK from?

i know dashmount make a leather holder but i dont want to spend that mjuch money on a holder. the metal ones were approx £25 which would be OK.

thanks

derek

Dashmount do have one for the W208 here:

Dashmount

Are they out of stock? If so, I have another 'no holes' bracket in my W209, better made than the Dashmount stuff, IMHO. I can't remember the manuafaturer, but if you do want to know, I can go look...

I have one manufactured by a company named Brodit. I believe they are Swedish however the UK stockists are: www.handnav.co.uk There is a link on this site to an independent review of these brackets.
The bracket I have clips into the air vent and contrary to what I originally thought about this method of mounting, they are built like a brick sh**house (made of metal)! The 'Dashmount' fascia versions require removal of the radio and a bit more of the dash in order to fit as they use the radio mounting as the point of fixture.
My Brodit type holds an Ipaq satnav system which weighs considerably more than a mobile phone, and there is no movement whatsoever.
Cost = approx £16
Fitting time = approx. 16 seconds!
Ordered from Handnav on-line and received the following day.
Unfortunately I don't have time at present to establish if there is one available for the W208 CLK. Over to you ;) !
Regards,
Alex
PS - Here's the link: http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/brodit.php

PPS - just checked, they are showing console (side of transmission tunnel), angled (side of radio) and centre (centre vent) mounts all in stock for a CLK. Hope this helps!

Yup, that's the same one I've got, and as you say, a doddle to fit; you even get a little plastic widget to prise the dash apart.
