Mobile phone video beep.

I have a problem! Both of my kids are musical and perform in various ensembles. I like to record their performances and tried to use my Archos. Unfortunately even on its lowest sensitivity the sound completely overpowers the Archos and the recording is very distorted as a result. I then discovered that the video recorder on my Nokia E61i can record a reasonable audio track without the distortion. I then started recording the kids with the phone on my lap videoing nothing just for the sound recording. THE problem! The E61i beeps loudly when you start and stop recording a video or take a photo and it cannot be disabled in the nokia software. Does anyone else either know a way of fixing this dilema or does anyone elses phone not beep when recording.

Put the phone into its silent profile.

My workaround is to transfer the video to my PC and edit out the beeps.

It doesn't record the beep it just tells everyone with 50 yards that you are recording!

I lied, I've just tested it.

I am SURE that's what I've done before.....

I think it's a legal requirment (in some countries) that the recorders and the camera cannot be used silently (stealth)

Nope, just tried it again, and it is silent - use the original silent mode, and try it a couple of times. It is definitely silent now.

I think when I tried to use it , it was time limited. It is also nice to video the kids sometimes.

there was some talk of making silent camera phones illegal to stop pervs taking pics places they shouldnt like changing rooms, i doubt it was ever put into practise though, my old nokia wouldnt go silent for taking pics or recording sound or video, but my new 5800 does, it also records at really high quality and in stereo for up to an hour, has stereo speakers on it too, actually sounds pretty good.
