Not sure where to post this but as It's part of Mercedes Me thought this was apt.

My Mobilo has expired as the car is now over 3 years old. But when I look on Mercedes Me I still have unlimited
Accident recovery
Breakdown management
Remote vehicle diagnostics
My question is, in the event of a breakdown/accident what will I be entitled to?

I have AA as well so maybe just stick with them.

Mobilo continues for as long as you get the car serviced by Mercedes.

Probably active with the warranty then stays active if you use a main dealer for servicing after 3 years. With a previous car I had 1 annual service was done at a local garage and the Mobilo stopped, then started again when the next service was done by a main dealer.

As above.

You get 3 years Mobilo with the new car.

You get 1 year Mobilo if you buy MB Approved Used.

The 1-year can overlap with the 3-Years, so the expiry date is the later of the two.

After that, it gets renewed for 12 months whenever the car is serviced by an MB dealer.

That said, some members on here reported that they had their cars serviced at an independent specialist who had access to the Digital Service Book (DSB), and subsequently their cars showed-up on Mercedes me as having active Mobilo (though they shouldn't have, really).

Thanks for replies, appreciated.
So if I breakdown or have an accident which triggers the SOS, what can I expect from the Mercedes help centre?

If you break down, you'll need to call them for roadside assistance (can be done via the app).

If you are involved in an accident, you can choose to use the Mercedes Benz accident management service.

If the SOS is triggered, then they will call the emergency services and notify them of your location.

I guess there are several scenarios.
If I am incapacitated in a crash they will call the emergency services.
If I have a crash and am ok then they will know and either they or I can call the AA.
If I just breakdown then I call the AA on my phone.

Thanks Mark

Does that mean you may as well just go with the AA ?

I think that the main benefit of Mobilo is that it's not something you buy, instead it's a service you get for free (or, rather, bundled with another product from MB). On a practical side, it covers UK and Europe, and the latter can be an expensive add-on to any roadside assistance package (i.e. AA / RAC / Green Flag etc).

The only caveat with Mobilo is that in the event that the car can't be sorted at the roadside and needs to be transported to a garage, they will only take it to an MB dealer. If you have an immobile car on your hands that is potentially facing an expensive repair, there are many places you would rather take the car - anywhere but the dealer... :D

Thanks that makes it clear. AA it is.

There is one more advantage with Mobilo, they come out to the road-side to attend with Xentry Star diagnosis so can often reset the offending error code, even download firmware updates to get you on your way. After completing the diagnosis they can often run tests and inform you if the car can be safely driven or needs to be towed to a garage. If towed to a garage, they will only tow to an MB garage but I seem to remember that they will arrange a hire car for you too.

I'm pretty certain the AA, RAC etc have diagnostic equipment so hopefully they can reset codes.
My original point was why do I have some benefits but not mobilo, which has now been answered thanks.

Pretty sure the last time I called up the RAC when my A-Class broke down on the M1, they did not attend with Star Diagnostic and certainly did not have any capability to check/update the firmware in my car.

Mobilo, actually out sourced to RAC, is a special RAC unit that has Star and a technician trained specially to use Star to diagnose MB cars. The unit that attended was able to run actual tests using Star and diagnosed that it was a random fault and after clearing the error code, the car was safe to go. They even downloaded a new firmware version over the air to try to prevent the error from recurring.

The notes made by this unit can be seen by the dealership when I later took the car in for further diagnostics. Try asking your dealership what your normal AA/RAC service did on the roadside callout!

Used today for a flat tyre. Very efficient and helpful and yes it renews at each mb service
