Guys,
Just bought back my s500 w140
Is there a chance to put it on classic insurance
Its a 1998 model
I will only use it occasionally
Any recommendation?

I think you might be able to insure it as a classic.
Try Adrian Flux on 08000855000 or adrianflux.co.uk. He does a lot of specialist policies.

The stroppy guy I spoke to there said they do not consider any car less than 30 years old a classic car so they insure "modern classics" on occasional use as normal vehicles.

Car will spend first 6 months in the garage mostly as I have plans for it
Will not be my main driver
Will shop around , seems there are few specialists out there :)
Thanx

Just got a 2000 Jaguar insured with Footman James on a classic car policy.

Adrian Flux are good at this. I have my 124 4-Matic on an agreed value Classic Policy. They now insure all 4 of my cars. Why?:

No hassle & relatively easy to deal with including the agreed value.

I wouldn't piss on Adrian flux if they were on fire. Recently Midas underwriters went broke and flux shrugged it off on the m3 forum as not their problem basically. Mainly so they could take more money. I have had nothing but aggro from them every time I have tried to insure a car with them. I find their staff arrogant too.

To add balance. Footman James did exactly this when they decided to go back to Classic Insurance only. They gave me and many others a few days notice that I was to be left uninsured on three of my cars, including my C55 Estate.

Hence I moved to AF. Three years on and never had an issue including with claims.

This. So much this.

Just looked on that Footman James site. Seems you have to be a member of the Mercedes Benz Club for more than a year if you want to insure a car less than 20 years old. And it's £38 for the year.

Try Peter Best or Lancaster insurance.

Might be worth joining the official Mercedes-Benz Club as PB offer a 10% discount - this usually covers the cost of membership :)

Sorry hear this, if you wanted to PM me some details I'd be happy to look into it for you.

Kind Regards
Dan

Hi,

I spoke to my boss on Monday and he advised me that all the clients affected by this had been contacted.

I'm sorry there isn't anything further I can do to alleviate the situation. Whilst it is no consolation to you it is extremely rare for a car insurance company to go completely under in this manner.

Kind Regards
Dan

I've got my w219 on classic insurance via Classic Line Insurance Hinckley. Limited miles.

Just ringing around this morning, can posters put up what classic/s they've insured, who they've insurer with, premium and miles allowed, gives a better idea of the market currently, will report back on my decision too!

I looked at classic policies for my R129 a couple of years ago but they were no cheaper for me than a standard one with low annual mileage. You also don't get NCD.

Probably going back with my normal insurer in N Ireland, broker called Autoline, cover with Allianz, both my 1990 300ce and 1989 200TE 3k miles shared, including breakdown cover for £155
