Yesterday I, along with my 13yo son, went out to change the oil and filters on the CLK and XC90.
Did the CLK first as it is so simple. Showed him how to use the PELA pump to take the oil out, changed all the filters and got him to put the new oil in - job done.
Turned our attention to the XC90. This was a first for me, so tried the PELA pump but only about 1L came out, so jacked up the front and put the axle stands in for safety. Crawled under and removed the sump plug and caught the remaining oil. Got out from underneath and told him, "Now, the most important thing about removing the sump plug is THAT IT HAS TO GO BACK IN AGAIN before you put the oil in".
I got him to do the oil and air filters and I had a proper fight with the fuel filter. So I asked him to fill the engine with oil.
Of course, you've guessed it. 4L of Castrol running down the drive - Doh. I couldn't believe how stupid I was.
