More cracked wheels!

It's went for some rear tyres and had the news that the 2 wheels are cracked

Am now tempted to buy some BBS CH-R wheels.. As there pretty tasty but not sure if there suitable.

What options is there?
Can you buy replicas of the originals as they'll prob be equally as strong as the chocolate standard ones.

Is there no kind of good will from Mercedes??

The Wheel Specialist repaired my cracked wheel? Obviously it depends how bad they / yours are. They charged me an extra £30, I was very dubious, but they said not to worry, they use a professional firm to repair them and they end up as new and completely safe!

Surely the wheels are designed to work in conjunction with the suspension and tyres it's not like one running fancy coilovers and non standard tyre sizes?

They seem to be cracked on opposite sides, one not so bad the other Pretty bad.

They are gonna have a go at welding them and see how they are but have ordered some spare wheels very similar to the 507 wheels so will see if they are ok too.

I've got reps on mine due to the standard one's cracking. I really don't think there's a lot in it when it comes down to quality. Apart from a amg logo your getting the same quality wheel for a fraction of the price.

I have HREs on mine and they seem very good, I fact I hit a pot hole and put a huge ding in the wheel ( I thought the wheel was scrap, massive hole in the sidewall of the tyre ) but www.wheelproscotland.co.uk/branches/Edinburgh in fixed it and repainted it as good as new for £135 so happy I am : ) I don't know of other branches but these guys are very good!

I've ordered some wheels that are very similar to the 507 wheels hopefully they'll fit?
The wheel company said they will no problem even after I told them about the fat brakes... Will see how knowledgeable they are

My 14000 mile 63 plate c63 has a cracked rear wheel. Dealer put a small bit of goodwill towards the wheel and it ended up at 440£ fitted.

I would of had it welded but with the high speed jaunts and power going through them I decided a new oem wheel was best

Yeah I've had mine welded and are back on now but it's at the back of my mind that there very vulnerable now.

But are welds meant to be stronger than standard original rim section now??

Still will get new wheels on at weekend and see how she looks

I'm not 100% sure what wheels mine are, previous owner of the car said the where brabus wheels. But I've took the tires off the front two to reseal the split part inside as they're 3-piece splits. And noticed one of the barrels has got a crack in it about half an inch long! Going to see if anyone can find me a new pair of barrels now!

With some flavours of metal welds can end up harder/stronger/more brittle than the parent material if the welder didn't know what they were doing/used the wrong consumables/doesn't understand or care how cooling rate can effect carbon steels for example

The wheels were repaired by an engineering firm who do quite a few wheels so am hoping they know what there doing

The weld itself might be stronger, but the metal around will be weakened due to the heat.
In addition, cracks still propagate after welding, unless the end of the crack is drilled out.
