I listed an item as collection only, and cash after inspection.
A buyer paid asking price and paid via paypal.

I'm aware that he can collect and claim to not have received, so no way.
I messaged to cancel and thought if he still wished he can bring cash, he then got shirty. I've now blocked him and he tells me to cancel.

Paypal have taken £13.50 from his payment, If he cancels and I agree I assume neither are out of pocket after his refund??
If I cancel is anyone out of pocket?
There were no eBay fees for the sale.

PayPal doesn’t refund its fee anymore and to make things even worse the seller pays that fee. So if you have received the funds it will be refunded to the buyer in full but you will be charged PayPal fee in full.

Thanks,
that makes me think again about the clear out I'm having.

get it all the time , people pay via paypall instead of cash on collection . just take a picture on your phone when there collected as proof . from my experience if you stand your ground with ebay they will support you .

Your phone camera is your best friend.

Photo of the buyer, collecting said item will be effective in stopping any spurious claim 99% of the time.

Delivery drivers; DPD, FedEx, Parcelforce, all do it.

Why not get them to sign a receipt stating item received and in good condition?
