Greetings! I'm popping by Costco this afternoon, and just realised I can't remember what viscosity I need in a W202, 1.8lt petrol engine. I seem to remember 0W/40 on Mobil 1 - but can someone confirm this?

Thanks in advance, you'll save me a trip home to look at the paperwork!

Don't really need 0w40 oil for a C180. Personally i would use a decent semi synthethic 10w40 or 15w40.
I believe this is what MB recommend for it.

Perfect thanks. I'll look for 10/15w40. Now I must also order the various filters and some spark plugs... I love shopping :p

Just make sure you don't buy that recycled Valvoline crap that they sell in the 25ltr containers. It looks used before you pour it into the engine!

Recycled Valvoline? Didn't see it! I ended up at Harrow Cosco, which had Mobil 1(£20ishx4l), Catrol GTX(£10ishx4l), Chevron(£17ish for 20l), and Castrol Magnatec(£15ishx4l), and Chevrol Supreme 5w/40 Synthetic(£10ishx4l).

The reason I went with the Chevron Supreme is that if I remember well, at the last service the mechanic used fully synth oil; and I'de like to keep it that way, even though its not 10w nor 15w. This shouldn't be TOO bad, right?

Now I need to order the filters, anyone used

before? I might just go to the dealer for the oil filter so I can get that out of the way today...

www.mercedes-benz-parts.co.uk--good quick service watch postage charge tho which might be significant on a small order. Eurocar parts do Hengst ones which are fine also. I would pay a visit to your local dealer.

Oops, I meant the Chevron (20l one), my mistake. Please don't sue me Valvoline!
