Most expensive service of my life

How come mike?

It’s too critical. I’ve never done an ATF change before, and if I mess it up, it could write the car off.

Given the cost of the new fluid, I’d rather just pay an indi who’ll get it up in the air and know what he’s doing.

I did everything myself, including several complete engine rebuilds.

.....when I was a young man :)

These days... I just entrust the work the mechanics and technicians. Unfortunately I am no longer up for bending over the engine bay or getting under the car.

I still do it myself despite the pain and week to recover. Gives me 'rest' time to drink beer while sitting in the garden! Oh, and I'm a skinflint and don't trust the dealerships. Lol.:D:D

So my original £325 service was completed at a cost of £975.
Mainly my fault for procrastination and nativity.

Your indie must have thought it was Christmas as well :D

Me too, arthritis and thin skin which tears easily, last time I worked on the car it took me ages to clean the blood of the engine where I had ripped my skin and not felt it, not pleasant:(

I'm not very technical, but will certainly change the engine oil and filter now and again. Changing the ATF is quite a job though, I believe. It needs to be done at a certain temperature and pressure and I understand that MB and specialists have some sort of machine that works a bit like dialysis...

Well I’m now 2K down in just over 2 months but I’m finished with it now. Everything has been done. :D

Hmm actually thinking of it now, needs a few chrome strips on the front bumper and probably wants new brakes soon  lol

If it helps give your card some relief I have a used pair of C class discs if they fit they're yours if you want them Free used w203 discs and pads

There is nothing wrong with them at all, I had a brake shudder which i convinced myself was the front discs and changed them.

Embarassingly it was was the rears so i have these sitting under my work bench and i doubt i'll wear through a new set quick enough to get the chance use them.

If they don't get claimed the day i sell the car they'll go in the boot lol.

Hi mate,

Thanks but I don’t think they’ll be compatible, ordered all the brakes and the chrome strips for the bumper. Also ordered a new TurboCharger...:D

Cheers
