Thought this may prove to be a fruitful and interesting thread. Let's keep on topic please
Many years ago (mid seventies I think) when I was in the Navy and based in Plymouth, I met this "older" lady. Saw her a couple of times and one night was at her place on St. Budeaux (if you know, you know!) watching the news on TV. One particular story showed a bunch of guys in camo, carrying weapons etc. stepping down the rear ramp of a military plane. Suddenly she said "That's my husband!" Turns out he was a mercenary and the story was about Angola. I may just have left rather sharpish........
Looking back I'm so pleased we did not have mobile numbers, email etc. then. All she really knew was that I was on an aircraft carrier. Phew! Dodged a bullet in more than one sense you could say!
