Yup! My car's first MOT taken and passed, "As you might expect" the MB technician said!

Two advisories, front pads and discs will require replacing "soon". Well, the second "A" service is due in 1200mls (at 48k mls) so it looks like I'll get my money's worth out of Service-Plus next month :D

Does 48k seem reasonable life for front pads and cross-drilled discs? (I'm not complaining)

Also put in a warranty claim for the front alloys. Both have one or two small (~3mm) bubbles on the edges of the "spokes". Technician took photos and will submit and let me know...

Thats a good mileage Dave for the brakes,, but then you are a careful driver as I understand it.

Good luck with the wheels, they can be funny over them

Thanks Steve :)

BTW who's Dave? :D

Hi Albert!:D
Congrats on your first MOT.

And that must be a record for the brakes.;)

I am going to have to cut down on the postings, I am going funny in the head Fred:mad::mad:

I think Malcolm MAY have confused you with me (?)

Just had Ollie at Prestige change my front pads at 50K but they were worn right down and wouldn't have lasted much longer. Ollie pronounced my discs OK (drilled like yours).
Be careful. Some places advise changing the discs even when its not necessary. If you going down to the GTG in May at PRESTIGE. Ollie will look at them for you and give his opinion.

Thanks VTDave but I think they will be changed by then, I have Service-Plus so not worried :D

Dealers advised they were 50% worn about a year ago so seems reasonable. Malcolm concured when he saw them at the GTG at Haynes Motor museum.

I'm looking forward to Ollie's GTG, see you there!

Update!

Driving home yesterday and the "Brake Wear" warning appeared in the cluster. So the MB tech was right!

I phoned my dealer and the car is going in on Saturday for it's "A" service, front discs and pads and ATF change... Thank God for Sevice-Plus! :)

HI

Congrats on the MOT - my brakes haven't been touched and I'm approaching 48k miles so am expecting the warning lights to go soon...cross drilled like yours.

How often does ATF need to be changed - my car is Dec 05 coming up to an A service in 1600 miles (but I'm convinced it will jump to B on the day I drive it in)....I'm also assuming I will need brake fluid changed after 2.3 years.

If I have the brakes done independently will that affect Mobilio ?

My disks are still original 170,000 mile old disks... I've never had to change disks on any car I've ever owned. Pad life remains reasonably constant at around 40k.

I really dont understand why people have to (or are advised to) change them so frequently.

Do you brake for horses.........:D

Our ML did that when the miles-to-go-ometer turned to 1000!!

As long as your indie used MB parts I can't imagine the brakes will affect Mobilo, but I could be wrong. They'd need to prove a dealer didn't change them if you wanted to argue with them.

Brake fluid is every two years for both of our cars.

Transmission oil appears to be a lottery. If you've done 40,000 miles or more it might be a good idea.

Mine flipped from an A to a B service just before I took it in the first time, but it changed at about 17,000 miles. I asked them to still only do the A service, as I was doing a lot of miles at the time and they did that no problem. They said ASSYST is just a guide.

ATF change is a one-off change at 37,500 miles or 4years whichever is first. As BD says, though, it does appear to be random - it didn't come up as required on my cars Electronic Service Sheet (ESS) which the dealer gets from pumping the VIN number into the MB computer, so they wouldn't do it under ServicePlus, even though they'd previously told me that it would be required.
