- 94 E320 W124 Coupe, '98 C240 Estate, 31k miles!
I recdently bought a 1994 E320 W124 Coupe. I knew the drivers seat was floppy, and the passenger side was jammed in the locked position. Dealer offered to put a fresh MOT on the vehicle prior to collection. This was duly done and the car collected.
However, I now know the floppy seat backs are an MOT fail, so how on earth did the dealer get a pass? I have called the MOT station that passed the car and they confirmed that the car would fail in its current state.
So did the dealer give me a bent MOT, or did the MOT station issue the certificate and turn a blind eye to the seat back as they have a clsoe working relationship with the dealer?
Would you "shop" the dealer to trading standards, and the testing station to VOSA?
Or would you fix the seat backs off your own back and ignore the above?
