My car is 3 years old on 14 October, that being three years on from the date of first Registration per the DVLA documents. Road Tax expires on 30 September.

Do I need to produce an MoT certificate to renew the Road Tax? Obviously going to have to get one done by 14 October, just a matter of timing the test

I concur. Edna is three in a few days yet I taxed her on 30th June. Just needed the insurance cert;)

What about older cars that have MOT, There has to be at least a month of MOT left to tax the car, I this true?

No. The MOT has to be valid on the day the tax is bought. Unless you are buying it in advance of the end of the month and the MOT runs out between the date you are taxing the car and the date it runs from Eg Tax due on 30 June. Mot expires 28th June. Tax purchaed 26th June. - they might reject it then but I don't know tbh..

But if Tax due 30 June, Mot Expires 6th July, tax purchased on or before 30th June - no problem.;)

Thanks Pammy, and I just rushed into having the MOT done on the Golf so I can Tax it :o

Taken from the DVLA site

"A current MoT test certificate. The certificate must be current on the date the new licence comes into force."
