I've been so busy I have neglected to post a link to my photo galleries from the Crystal Palace Sprint, now known as Motorsport at the Palace

GN Spider at Crystal Palace

Simon's a big supporter of the event. I loved the Vanguard - though at first glance I thought it was a Hindustan Ambassador!

The great thing about Crystal Palace is the mix of cars and the fact that many of them don't appear anywhere else during the year. So lots of people who have never been to a VSCC meeting see Spider and lots of people who don't read the specialist press see the Leaf electric racer. Everyone ends up happy!

Amen to that. 'Eclectic' is the word, I believe.

This sort of thing is right up my street, but sadly Crystal Palace isn't (geographically that is).

For those who don't know, GN was set up by HR Godfrey and Archie Frazer-Nash (who went on to be the original official UK importer of BMW and Porsche cars) and made cars in Hendon till about 1925. Spider was a well-known racing special

The cars have chain drive and usually have a Jap V-twin engine upfront. No diff so they drift round corners

Frazer-Nash went on to build Frazer-Nash cars, again with a solid rear axle & chain drive
