I have changed our Broadband supplier from BT to Sky today.

The current offer for new subscribers was £38 per month with all setup fees waived for broadband of up to 100Mb/s, we currently get around 45 Mb/s so probably no improvement.

Chargeable telephone calls (we never use the landline so no point in paying for any inclusive packages ), basic Netflix and standard Sky TV .

Our telephone and broadband package with BT is currently £55 and the router hasn't got the best coverage.

I rang BT to say that I was closing the account and I was moving to a new supplier. They asked why so I told them about the deal I had found with more benefits for a lower cost.

They made no attempt to offer anything better just "Oh well, that's your choice"

I had THE most disgusting experience with BT and my business line many years ago. Horrible company

If you use your BT email account (as my wife does) rather than something like Gmail (which I use) then moving from BT looses your btinternet.com account unless you pay (I think £5pm) to keep it active. This is one major reason I've stayed with BT, as having a button-phobic wife, the hassle of changing all her links from her BT account to her Gmail account would have me back on the valium. I've had this a couple of times already when wanadoo disappeared, then someone else took over and I said enough and moved to Gmail, took ages to move everything over, plus when Win10 refused to open Windows Live Mail and I lost access to my email history files on my PC, I was ready to tear my hair out, so the idea of switching wife's email does not appeal. Also getting BT Sport (hence footie, MotoGP etc) via elsewhere gets expensive.

Thank you for the information.

We both use Gmail so that not an issue and we also have no interest in Football or MotoGP😂

As said, we will probably not use the extra channels or Netflix much but for the occasional use it will be good to have the extended choice 👍

I swapped from BT to Vodaphone last year and immediately regretted it.

Of course the fibre is still the same but the hardware inside the house is new, looks fancy but is absolute crap.

The BT hub covered the whole house and outside cameras, the Vodaphone gear needs 2 boosters and still struggles with TV and cameras, the telephone support people try their best and can adjust settings from their end to try and help but you are still left to move the boosters around the house, they aren’t that ugly to look at but who wold want the bloody things when the single BT hub worked perfectly?

Hope it all works out for you.

We’ve been with Sky for many years with a few gripes. The only thing stopping us jumping ship is the old cliche ‘better the devil you know’. 🙄

Just moved everything over to full fibre- TV Phone and B/band as yet all is well .
That on Sky? We did the same last year. The results were very welcome.

Went from around 40mbps to this:

Not bad for a little forgotten village. ☺️

Don't leave us hanging 😁

We pay for sky TV, Netflix and broadband so would make sense to just get from sky ?

I've been with BT since year dot. Since doing away with the landline phone charge, I'm paying £47 pm. There's no chance of getting full fibre here, but the cabinet is only about 400m away.

Not interested in Netflix or Sport and a reliable 31Mpbs down and 9.2Mpbs up is perfectly adequate for YouTube and all the TV catchup services.

We've got four BT email accounts (and a Gmail) which would be a bind to change now, but the clincher is the "free" BT Cloud with 1000GB of storage. It's clunky but reliable, giving automatic back-ups of a laptop and a desktop - and I've still got around 920GB left!

And last year, I got a gratis utd router!

Google gives us a 1Gb cloud storage.

Like yourself we have no interest in the Sports package but £17 per month less and with more "options" on offer it seemed worth the change.

We do have issues with the BT router in terns of coverage but that is probably due to the house have all solid internal walls so we have two WiFi extenders which cover the house and barn including the security cameras except for the one at the end of the drive which is cabled due to the distance from the router.

There are some good deals for new customers at the moment but Sky may be flexible if you tell them that you are considering leaving! 🤔👍
