No and No,

Only way to get mp3 is via the ipod installation kit or a similar setup.

Cheers, looks like I will stick with the Alpine and my tomtom pda.

Does the Comand do putt 6 and 7 digit post codes ie is it as efficient as TomTom? Admittedly it looks neater in the car than TomTom but I would rather go for functionality

If you are looking at Satnav - have a look at the Garmin 2720 - looks pretty good to me.

only down side is the speaker is in the cigarette lighter power thingy - although i am sure jucious use of wire snips and that can be changed

I've been told by Smart tha the comand in my forfour should play 'well burned' MP3 CD's. not managed to bake one long enough to make it work though! The post codes vary as to where you are, in Cornwall I was getting to the nearest town with it but in Swindon it can find the right house! Just down to the mapping I guess! This is the same unit as the C-class has.
