Hi

What mpg would you expect to get out of a petrol 2l auto estate from 1999 with 140k on the clock?

Mine does 1/3 town, 2/3 dual carriage way and does roughly 30-32 mpg. Is that ok?

Also, stupid penny pinching question: my car hasn't had plugs or air filter for 50k (since I bought it) but seems to run fine. Done oil every 10 to 14 k (oops) so should I got for a 150 quid service or my usual 25 quid crapfit one?

Would changing the plugs and filter improve this?

I can guess the replies! :D

The fuel consumption looks spot on.

If you want to see whether it needs a new air filter, try running round the block just breathing through your nose ;)

The MPG looks perfectly normal to me, very similar to mine.

I wish my C200 was getting that MPG! I'm getting 18/20 MPG and im driving like a grandad! Lol, Mines a 1999 same as yours with only 90k, to be fair all I do is town driving and it's hilly around here.

Sy.

I would expect around 30-35mpg, even on todays fuel prices! 20 seems low.....!

It's pretty flat round my way, but just town driving gives about 25, just motorway at 70 gives 35, so not sure if 20 is right or not, seems low but maybe the hills are the issue.

It seems from the replies that a £29 national tyres service is the way to go! If it wasn't so rusty and didn't run so well I would treat it, but...
