MSL CLS63 AMG TTE900 Turbo Upgrade

Mapping might take a few attempts Jules

When mine was decatted the map took another two days, some quick, others long. I have no idea what happens or what goes on I was just thinking two days I’m getting my moneys worth out of Acid lol

Does the map come live from Germany down the phone line or something? Yes I don’t have a scooby doo.

The map is being created from scratch. The supplier of the turbos is merely that and they are not tuning specialists. In this set up there are only two other 5.5’s out there worldwide, so not much to benchmark against but at least something.

Fortunately Acid and John BFT (Big Fish Tuning) are very experienced in big conversations and bespoke tuning. It also helps that they have been involved in other “similar” but not the same conversions, so have an idea of what to expect.

The process when mapping from scratch can be complex. The starting point is to create a very, very “safe” map for the cars first run post all of the hardware changes. This firstly gives confidence that the mechanical side of the conversion has gone well, and secondly sets a base point of figures (hp, torque, AFR etc) to then start the real mapping from.

Exciting times.......

Cant wait to see what it delivers

Quick Update

All mechanical works were completed in good time with no major hitches, but good learnings on “the how” for future installs like this particular one. Acid, John BFT and Team MSL were fantastic.

The Mapping process has been done from scratch by John at Big Fish Tuning, starting with a very safe base map which produced a surprising 820bhp! The process since is very careful incremental revisions, this is so that the torque can be capped (protect gearbox etc) and to ensure that the ignition timing and boost levels are controlled and kept optimal, albeit boost levels are still very low. With this in mind the current revision sees the car now at 860bhp with very smooth curves and good AFR. Plenty still to come and will update again soon......

Wow! Well that's my next car sorted!

excellent progress Jules, it is a slow process but worth it .

Yes, the guys have been brilliant and are making great progress. Perfection takes time plus it will benefit future and existing builds massively.

I was very impressed with Acid's Magic Wand on the CL's Bi-turbo 700bhp/850lbft :D Very interested in the outcome :)

Good figures mate , mine yet to come :-)

I'm going with a different turbo set up mate but figures should be similar.

Holy cheesecake batman.
