I appreciate what you're saying, but I think there is a misinterpretation on terminology used.
Torque isn't response... it's torque.
Response is in the context of throttle inputs, and achieving boost threshold in my eyes.
As you know, there are mapping "tricks" that can be performed to possibly make a turbo spool quicker. This is where ECU remapping can most certainly benefit.
The other element is in respect of removing torque limiters (as you've stated).

By the way, are these engines variable valve on the inlet and exhaust (I suspect they are).
