MSL Portable Custom Remap Handheld My Genius Devices

In simple terms the engine map will provide the same power at a given rpm/throttle opening in any gearbox mode.

The different gearbox modes change the shift points, how much throttle is required to kickdown and how the throttle pedal works.

For example, let's say that in C 50% throttle pedal travel is 50% throttle opening but in S+ 50% throttle pedal travel is 90% throttle opening. Therefore, the car feels more lively which in turn has a placebo effect of more power.
OK, and thanks for the explanation, but with an extra 100+ bhp, how is this affected?

Or am i being stupid!

The gearbox reaction to throttle input is unaffected. It's just that for the same throttle request you'd get more power after a remap.

ok and thanks again. Has anyone here got one of these and what do they think? Is the extra power and torque worth having?

I've had the MSL Stage 1 remap on my C63 (W205) for a week (I thought the group buy was taking too long, so paid full price) and I'm over the moon with it, this is the third C63 that I've owned, previously two W204's and all of them had an MSL remap.

The W204 and W205 are both electronically limited, in the case of the W204 C63 it was electronically limited by Mercedes in order that it wasn't faster than the E63, so a remap simply allowed it to produce what it was designed too, by opening the throttle bodies fully and mapping the fuelling to match, the car was then put on the rolling road at MSL and final tweeks were made to optimised and ensure the fuelling was correct through the entire rpm range and load input. It totally transformed the capabilities of the car, but maintained it's road manners, if you wanted to drive in comfort mode, it still had the extra power available should you wish to use it, but if you wanted to drive sedately it would do that too, it's all down to the input you, the driver puts in.

My new W205 C63 engine is again limited electronically as the same engine is fitted in the AMG GT producing around 580bhp, so MSL Stage 1 map allows the engine to produce the same (At least). Mine has now been treated to a stage 1 remap which I downloaded onto my car via the MyGenius, and will have the final tweaks done when I get the chance, the new map is deliberatly mapped on the safe side, so I'm totally happy loosing a few bhp to ensure the engine is safe. However the difference it makes on the W205 C63 is low and mid range power, absolutely amazing and it's like driving a difference car, and the difference in available power is instantly noticable. But should you want to drive sedately it does this just the same as it would as standard, again it's all down to driver input. I would certainly agree with MSL's claims that this map allows the engine to produce well in access of 580bhp, but for me the torque is the most noticable difference, it just pulls so early in the rpm range, I've been in an Audi R8 V10 and I honestly believe that on a rolling start, the C63 is as fast, certainly capable of doing a 0 - 60 in sub 4 seconds, but it's the mid range acceleration that is the most noticable.

As i mentioned, i've had three C63's mapped by MSL and can assure you that you won't be dissapointed, and your car will perform how you want it too, but with more power should you need it.

Enjoy................... Here's Mine

That's really helpful and I appreciate you taking the time to do the write up. I'm almost certain that I'm going to go for it, but just wondered what you meant when you said "and will have the final tweaks done when I get the chance". Does this mean that you will have to go to MSL to get it finished off?

Thanks

No..... the map that MSL will send you will be absolutely fine to run without any further tweaking.

I plan on fitting some aftermarket down pipes and some K&N/Piper Cross filters, so once I have these fitted I’ll take the car to MSL for some final tweaking as the map I ordered was the Stage 1 (totally standard car, with no additional modifications). As part of you ordering the map from MSL, they will ask you if your car has any other modifications and if you have.......the map will be tailored to take these into account. MSL are the Mercedes experts and have done so many cars, they know where changes will be needed to take most modifications into account, or you can pay them a visit and they’ll put you car on their Rolling Road which simulates real driving and they will check items like the fuelling (Air to fuel ratio), Timing and Advance Curves, Boost Settings etc to ensure all parameters are correct and optimised.

If you have no other modifications, you’ll be totally fine with the map they send.

“Acid” and his guys are all very knowledgable and will answer any questions you might have and also advise you what options you could consider for the future, should you want even more power........ It’s very Addictive 😁😁😁

Hi Acid,
Would you be able to remap my S600 W221 model? It's the 5.5 V12 Twin turbo. If you can, how much would it be and what gains can I expect from the remap?

I've been thinking of getting the car remapped as I've read this engines respond very well but I would like for the car to go on a dyno so I can see what it makes standard and then with the new map

Many thanks

Sam

Received my genius device this morning,

If you don't have a Windows PC like me then go to virtual box download it and load up a virtual windows server and then you can do it all from there.

Steps are really easy to follow especially the in car ones when its connected takes about 30 secs to 1 min to get the file.

Sent mine off to MSL now so will update once i get it back and apply it to the car.

Spoke to Acid over the phone to pay for it and very refreshing to find a company thats on the ball wether its an email or phone call.

Didn't realise you could do that, lack of a windows pc had put me off.

Just got the map back from Acid, will get this installed tomorrow now on baby sitting duties while mrs is on nights.

I’ll update tomorrow night with a quick review after I have been out for drive

I'm about to go for one of these and so am very interested in hearing what you think.....

Getting the tune onto the car was really straight forward a few warnings pop up on dash whilst you are doing it but I saw these on the dimsport video on YouTube so nothing to worry about. Took around 10-15 mins to complete.

I agree with the comments from JimGreen very noticeable difference in the low and mid range feels like a new car again. Not sure if it’a just me but seems abit louder on up and down shifts anyone else think this?

Driveability is exactly the same just feels like it’s more eager to go and rev. My god does it feel quick mid range I’d be interested in before and after 100-200 times. In all honesty I didn’t think the difference would be felt as much as it is. Next step for me I’m going to take it to a rolling road for a power run interested in the power it’s putting out now.

the transaction with MSL / Acid was faultless ordered it Friday received Tuesday, sent the stock file at 1:30pm got it back at 7:30pm even thoughn it said it could take between 24-48hrs.

has anyone with this map had a w205 put on the rolling road after tune?

That is a great review!!

One question I have, when the car is mapped do you still get the crack/bang at the top of the revs when you change gear? A friend of mine has his mapped some where else and it lost the bang. I want it to be the same but with the extra power.

Yep they are and I feel they are a little bit louder

Can you post a link to the YouTube clip please. I’m expecting mine to be delivered tomorrow 😬

Did you connect to a battery charger? The YouTube video really stresses that you should.
