MSL Remap

.....and if your word of mouth is limited?......

I would rather deal with a company that has at least 22years of engine experience that does:

Car Tuning...Van Tuning...4x4 Tuning...Commercial Vehicles...
Agricultural Vehicles...Track / Race Cars and Marine Engines....like i used...
which goes like a dream....still in one piece with performance and economy which is recommended on this site by a couple of traders including one that this actual thread is about and do have a Superb informative Website.

The cheapjack Website i would beware of as they usually have no proffessional back up.

:dk:The thing is, word of mouth regarding MSL isn't limited, so your point is what exactly.

Obviously you are happy dealing with your company with 22yrs experience. You have a diesel:doh:. The majority of members suggesting MSL have performance cars that Acid has a lot of experience with. What does your tuner know about safely tuning a 5.5 twin turbo AMG lump and getting well over 700bhp? Horses for courses I think.

Re websites. MSL's isn't the best, but to infer they have no professional back up is wrong and a slur on both Acid and his business.
I have seen worse websites, and a couple of them are recommended tuners on this and the other forum. It's not their website that attracts business, its guys that use them, recommend them, and their good reputation gets around. Don't knock MSL because you aren't dazzled by their website.

I think MSL would rather you dealt with that company too.

You are talking about Celtic tuning I assume. I have had two weasel powered cars tuned by their maps. Back in the day they where great but since expanding via a franchise model the service depends on the person you get.

If all I needed was a diesel flashed I would probably use them. When I want my the 5.4 supercharged motor tuning, no I choose a company who have a fantastic word of mouth reputation just like MSL.

My point is i am new to Mercedes and i am 67yrs old with NO word of mouth information from anyone as i don`t KNOW anyone with Merc. experience.

When trying to find out about this type of thing there were few forthcoming answers which were no good at all

You stick with what fuel you prefer and so will i and just incase you are belittling my motor with the remap ...it is 0.8secs slower to 60 that a C55 and has the same 60-80 figure also the C320 CDI V6 has the same torque as standard to the C55 but with my remap i now have 628Nm of torque so quite a good cheap option...Lol....also with no expensive AMG parts involved.....the benefit is i do 44mpg compared with about a max. of 30 for the C55

Re websites. MSL's isn't the best, but to infer they have no professional back up is wrong and a slur on both Acid and his business.

I haven`t even seen MSL Website...so you are barking up the wrong tree!

As said above i have not even seen the MSL Website so am not dazzled by it...Lol.....infact BFT@MSL was the only one to actually give his time to write out a long reply to help me understand about what to expect from remaps!....so i am hardly going to knock them am i....*****!

Well, now you are talking sense and that is why i used Celtic as i just wanted my very reliable mint condition 8 year old Diesel flashed....i was going to trade in for a newer Mercedes but have thought more of it after reading of breakdowns and unreliability with the later models

............................................................

I think you two have really shown me what some Mercedes owners stand for really just up themselves and are quite rude to other members ....Oh! and also cannot read or translate others post very well.

Perhaps MrHanky you should of not started what you don`t know much about by being rude to a fellow member....no doubt this place is just as clicky as the other forums!

Morning Keith,

I think that what people are getting at was your first post on this thread.

What about those remap companies that have excellent well informed websites that do a fantastic job on your motor?....like i used!....and it wasn`t expensive!

Let's face it, the thread was about a guy who had excellent service from a company who went the extra mile to sort a customer's problem out. This problem was possibly caused by another companies map in the first place. As I mentioned previously MSL are more concerned with the cars than their website. THey do employ full time office staff, though I'm not sure who's responsible for the advertising side of things, though they don't really need to advertise due to the volume of work they are getting.

My point is i am new to Mercedes and i am 67yrs old with NO word of mouth information from anyone as i don`t KNOW anyone with Merc. experience.

As you stated earlier, John (BFT) gave you the answers you were after, so I can't see an issue here. And I'm catching you up age wise (bloody quickly)

Firstly, I don't think anyone is belittling you car, but the original post was posted in the Performance Lounge, which is used a lot by the people with larger engined cars, usually petrol. I'm not getting involved with figures as, to me, they're just numbers really, though I must admit I do like big numbers. :)

I have heard of Celtic (I won one of their maps last week actually at Benz on the Green), though would not use them myself due to the nature of my particular car. I also like to get mine on a rolling road after any mapping work has taken place so that I can see the results and sort any fine tuning out if needed. Often. This cannot happen with a map done at home/place of work etc.

A generic remap is fine for mid range performance, but when you're getting higher end, you need it specifically designed for your car and not an "off the shelf" solution

I think you two have really shown me what some Mercedes owners stand for really just up themselves and are quite rude to other members

I think you really should spend a little time getting to know a couple of people on here. I've met a few and can assure you that you'd struggle to find a more helpful bunch. We aren't all bad. :)

Oh! and also cannot read or translate others post very well.

This could work both ways, a little more time writing the post out?

Anyway, I'm off now. Good luck with the car. :)

Dave Ghandi speaks wise words, as usual :thumb:.

A few badges and you'd be perfect .

Sorry you feel that way Keith. I certainly wasn't belittling your car being a diesel. What I was trying to point out was you were happy with Celtic tuning for your mapping. Members with performance cars are happy with MSL. This thread concerns a customer who was very happy with the service he received from MSL.
Further down the thread, someone quite rightly points out MSL's site isn't the best.

You then say "The cheapjack Website i would beware of as they usually have no proffessional back up." so I assumed, maybe wrongly you were referring to MSL.

This is a typical case of the written word being taken the wrong way. Sorry again if I appeared rude as it was certainly not my intention. Enough said by me anyway. This is a thread praising customer service and a bit off topic.

Not really Keithy, Ive had cars tuned, flashed, live mapped and custom tunes done on various car since the mid 90's. I was not being rude just putting my point across. Im sorry that my post winded you up and got under your skin that was not my intention.

Its not clicky on this forum, at least non more so than numerous other forums I have been on. Just need to take peoples posts like you do peoples opinions in real life, some you agree with some you dont. Above all its just a forum, the place should be informative and fun. If you find it neither and it causes stress then whats the point.

Ha Ha.....it does take more than you Mr uuanky hankypanky to wind me up...Lol

I do find forums which you say are just like this one probably no more clicky than others and informative of members posts which are replied to by sarcastic members which find it fun in there own termite minds to try and willfully offend others.

I worked with Allard Superchargers in the late `60`s on Ford`s and also tuning NA pushrod motors so i know well what tuning is all about .....Websites weren`t even heard of then but the quality of the humble mechanic was!.....

Well I'm glad that's all cleared up lol.
