W124 300d estate
Hi folks
Looking for a set of mudguards for a W124 estate. One thing this weather shows is with good snow tyres you can get still get about in a rear wheel drive estate, and also how much *rap comes up and sticks to the car when you don't have mud guards.

The correct rigid moulded MB mud flaps and fixings are still available from your local dealership, I bought a set for my estate last year and they do help limit mud, slush and other debris from spraying the side panels. I think these are the correct part numbers:

MB 6 52 81 32 front pair
MB 6 52 81 34 rear pair

They cost £24 per pair which I reckon is good value - they fit well, look good (in a practical kind of way) and have a moulded star to the rears. Fitting involves no drilling or screws, you just have to clamp the flaps with the supplied fixings onto the body cladding with mole grips. I also accomplished all four corners without removing the wheels, though it would be easier with the wheels off (I was lazy). An instruction booklet is supplied.

The MB "semi-rigids" are very good and do help "a bit " to prevent crud from being swept onto the rear side panels. They don't stop stuff from accumulating under the wheel arches though and if you drive in deeply rutted snow there's a distinct possibility of losing them as they can get torn off. On balance a good thing for light mud /grit etc :thumb: but not not so hot on deep snow.:fail

Thanks for the suggestions, just off to call MB in Aberdeen and order up some mudguards
