Can you get a policy to cover you if you own more than one car? Are they dear and do they cover fully comp protected?

Thanks
Ian

I believe you can - they used to be called trader policies. I think a lot of insurers will insure more than one vehicle these days - they certainly have been doing it with bikes for years.

I just got a quote on Admiral's multi-car thing and it wasn't that bad. Pleasantly surprised because I only had one lot of NCD to use on 1 car and the other was starting from scratch. Neither car is a performance car though.

Got to try the NCD on the other car and see if it works out better, but it is certainly tempting.

Having 3 cars and 3 bikes in this country, I find myself paying some quite hefty insurance premiums...

Every year, I try the multi-car things, and find out that I can get cheaper by splitting the various cars over various specialist insurers. e.g. the Shogun on a 4x4 specialist, the W202 on a normal one, etc...

Might try a broken next year to save time!

I went with DL for this reason but they muffed it when I came to add the second car. (dip$hit staff dont know their own products). Wont be with them come renewal time.

I used to have a couple of cars on a 'mirror' policy through A-plan. It was at a really good price too (I think, from memory that the 2nd car was charged at around 25% on top of the premium - although it was a few years ago and I can't remember the exact details). The good thing was that I had fully-comp cover on both cars whenever I drove them. Absolute peace of mind.

I`ve had 2 cars with LV for several years. No problem whatsoever and discount given for 2nd car.
Renewal premiums very competitive too.Give them a try.

I have an Admiral Multi Car Policy at the moment. It covers you for up to 4 cars....and I now have 4! It seems good value and easy to set up. PM me if you have any further questiosn about it.

IMD, how does it work out cost wise.?

I had two cars under DL, one of which was my E320 coupe. I switched them both the Admiral Multicar and saved an absolute shedload

That's well over 50%, and I'm in my late 30's, with full NCB

And unlike DL, when I cancelled one of the cars, I got a full refund on the unused portion of the cover, and no obfuscating drawn-out arguments.

Thanks PJ - have currently got my Admiral quote saved for two cars, and might look at moving the 2.3-16V there from the classic policy it's on at the moment.

I have an Admiral Multicar policy to cover the SLK32 and a newish E280CDI. It costs £40PM which is great value. I have max no claims and live in a relatively low risk area.

I think these policies depend upon a number of factors - eg type and age/value of vehicles, etc.

I have a classic policy for my 190E 2.5-16, it's a limited mileage policy (I hardly use the car) with an agreed valuation - it comes in at well under £150 PA.

Obviously with newer cars, classic policies aren't an option - but worth considering for many older cars.

I have the CLK with kwick Fit. When I bought the Volvo I got a cheaper quote with More Than and they mirrored the NCB over to the Volvo.
CLK £300
Volvo £230
