Multi Function Display Question - W164

Hi All,

Quick question with the cluster multi function display on my new ML.....although I presume it's applicabel to other vehicles as well.

Anyway, the trip computers are all set to miles, mph and mpg, but the digital speedo insists on displaying in KM/h.

Anybody know how to change this? I can change all the other car settings using the menu, +/1 and UP/DOWN buttons on the wheel, but this one just doesn't seem to want to change....

Yes mine did the same. You can set it to show the outside temperature in that position instead in the settings. You can set it to mph though. Your owners manual will have the instructions on how to do it.

Hmm.....reading through the manual, it says:

"Selecting the distance units for the digital speedometer: This function is not available on vehicles with speedometers in mph"

and

"Selecting the status line display: Vehicles for the United Kingdom; this function is not available"

What's that all about then? Why not? Anybody know?

Presumably this can be changed using a service menu or something? Any ideas?

Pretty sure mine said it could be. Will check the manual.

Edit: Your correct it cant be changed which is a bit silly. I didnt see the footnote on the bottom of the page which says for vehicles in the UK the digital speedometer always displays in km/h.

IIRC there are loads of threads about this...

All vehicles sold in the EU need to display the speed in km/h. And in order to keep the speedo graphics neat when it is calibrated to mph MB have chosen to dedicate that area of the display solely to this km/h function in the UK.

Somebody with STAR will be able to change it for you, I believe.
