Just heard the sad news that Murray Walker has passed away aged 97,
Grew up watching F1 with his fantastic commentaries - gaffes and all!

RIP, Murray, your enthusiasm for motorsport was the spark that ignited the flame in many of us.

For a long time the voice of F1- hopefully they can incorporate some form of memorial to him somehow at Silverstone. RIP
p.s. sport is often nothing without it's spectators and Murray was the spectator for everyone. Despite his gaffes he always managed to convey the atmosphere and the excitement so you felt you were there at the race with him- that was his gift as a commentator

Great memories of his voice on speed. Impossible to contain his excitement at every stage of the race. Fantastic in all his interviews. Never heard a bad word said about him.

I’m sure the world of F1 will be deeply saddened.

RIP Murray 🙏

I can't believe how long it has been since he retired.

And I still miss him as if it was only two or three years ago.

Very sad, will miss his contribution to motor sport R.I.P

Very sad to hear, he truly was the voice of F1

RIP Murray

a real Motor Sport legend and true gentleman.......RIP Murray Walker

Very sad, if the word ‘iconic’ was to be personified, then he would be it. A fine life, of a fine gentleman, RIP.

Would have loved to hear him reading a story!😄
Truly a loss to motorsport and broadcasting.

He was certainly the voice of motorsport for me.
I seem to remember one occasion where he went out on a racing motorcycle outfit and could hardly contain himself doing the commentary.
Thanks for all the memories, Murray.
