Hi Guys,
I have a 2010 E250 convertible and want to play music stored on my Samsung S7 edge but get told it is not supported, is there any way to get around this problem? tia

Which Audio Unit do you have?
Look on here to help you identify yours model
How to identify the type of car radio / head unit / Navigation System in my Mercedes Benz?

If it is Comand / NTG4.5 (mine is a 2012 so likely the same) then its a firmware update
MB Dealers can do it but some audio specialists can (for less), notably Comand on Line (forum sponsors)

Mine works with all Android and iOS we have tried on it with steering wheel controls as well

NTG 4 can stream music also.

On a 2010 model it may or may not have the hardware / software to do it. Usually doesn't have the software, but an update may give the option, but sometimes the hardware isn't there on that age of car.

probably best you give your VIN to Catalog who could advise.

I have the Audio 50 media system.

It is the NTG 4.5.
I have NTG4.5 Gen3 (aka NTG4.7) and it streams music over Bluetooth from my Samsung Galaxy S9 and from various iPhones.

I suggest you check the settings on both COMAND and your phone - the BT pairing for streaming is separate to the BT pairing for voice calls, and done from a different screen on COMAND.

Failing that, I would suggest a firmware upgrade for the COMAND system, especially if your NTG4.5 Gen1 unit has never been updated since 2010.

Assume you have the gold coloured interface being a 2010, rather than the silver in the 2011/12- cars. These are very hit and miss as to whether they have the ability to bluetooth stream.

The OEM systems are pretty awful on this era of car. Upgraded mine (which does have streaming) for a 10.25"Android based screen to get all the basics from the OEM unit such as the radio, but all of the modern features such as realtime sat nav (Waze, Google Maps) etc and 4G connection in the car from the new screen. Probably saved me from selling it really.

Don’t wanna open another thread so I’ll ask here.

have a NTG4 comand aps. Activated BT audio in engineering menu and now I can connect my phone to stream music (no track/artist info though)

the problem is that the connection is not stable. Most of the times I have to re authorize the device after coming back to the car, otherwise it connects but skips every second. What’s weird is that sometimes it just work. Also except a few times it always shows BT audio paused in main screen, even if it plays just fine and this leads to not being able to play/pause/skip from the system (sometimes it works as it should).

I keep seeing people saying it needs a firmware upgrade. What exactly should I ask for? Why will change afterwards? Stability? It’ll show the track/artist names? many feedback would be appreciated

P. S. Is there a dedicated thread around here for the functionality of that android screen? I found some posts praising it, but I’d more interested in a more tech discussion. I’m looking into that but I’m so not comfortable with android as a platform (concerned it’ll lag like hell over time, based on past android tablets experience).
