05.00 this morning dropped off relatives at Heathrow. In, out back home for brekky.
So short while later just got on to M3, customary speed in lane 1, not a care in the world, light traffic.
Then overtaken at great speed by an older, dirty & very heavily laden BMW 5 series estate that was camped out in lane 3 before, during & after.
At least 7 young males crammed in there and a roof box atop. The damn thing was looking very unstable and quite smokey.
Bon chance, thinks I. Then a while later I see in the distance a smoke screen being laid down. Lots of grey smoke.
As I get up to J4a yes, it is the 5 series now limping along at about 30mph, belching grey smoke but not just from exhaust: it is pouring out from engine bay. Sounded like a biscuit tin full of spanners being shaken.
Driver was clearly having a shouting match with passengers.
