I feel your pain.

I'm afraid I be getting that tyre looked at too.

There are wheel specialists all over the country - Google is your friend.

Looks like a new tyre is required.

I had similar on my 204, if it is only the outer lip and not the front facing part of the wheel, then I would file it down carefully, sand it and the mask up the whole wheel apart from that section. Then give it a few coats of lacquer, leave it a few weeks and T-Cut it in and finally wax it.

Do not touch the painted black face if it is not damaged.

A full refurb will be about £90 but they are never as good - in my experience refurbs will chip and peel regardless of who does it, even Lepsons.

Your best bet is sadly a new wheel - I agree with the post above ref. refurbs with the addition that I have never seen an exact colour match, which would mean either one wheel a slightly different colour, or refurbing all 4.

thanks guys - 4 weeks old and it looked like im going to need a new wheel as the imperfection is killing me to look at!

Now this is my first merc so i have now idea how much a new wheel is going to cost?? any rough guesses so i can prepare myself before i go to the dealership!

Are they diamond cut? I looked into getting my diamond cut wheels done, was £150 each which isn't too bad. They take it right back down and layer it as they would a new wheel.

Might be worth ringing your dealer to find out who they use?

probably around £500-£600 for the wheel

I had to have a nearside front 18" AMG replaced after going down a deep pothole in the 2nd week of ownership. Cost was 450 from Mercedes Macclesfield. :(

If you could trace white van , it might be worth asking them to pay - worst scenario is they refuse .

Mercedes used to have some kind of 'minor mishap' cover on new cars , not so very long ago , where they would replace damaged tyres etc in , I think , first year of ownership .

Worth looking to see if they might cover this .

Last resort , if it is going to cost £££ , is insurance .

wow! i think its going to cost me around the same - problem being is going to take a while for them to get them as they only just come out!

yeah called my dealer taking it in on the weekend - quickly drop into kwikfit to check the tyre and they said hasn't gone deep enough to require new tyre as just partially split through wheel protector so they are going to seal it which is good news! but no getting away from the alloys!

will see what dealer says and also send pics to the guys suggested here

what a day! wish i got the plate of white van man but was to busy trying not to die!

What a bummer  Tyre check and decent refurb may well do the job, but get it checked for buckling too.
