Gents, Ladies, having now had the w212 for a few days, i must say, i do take back alot of my comments from the past.

I am sorry for putting the brand down in many of my past posts.

The last few days in the new car have been exceptional.

The car is superb, the build is superb, and the looks are very classy, and have hints of timeless design through out, and are defo not boring or a clone of a hyndai or any other brand!

The power delivery on this diesel is possibly one of the best i have experienced.

When i compare the 320cdi in our s class to this e class, the delivery of the power is significantly improved.

the s class has really gone down in my books in the last few days, and the e class is more than enough for a luxury car. the design and layout is functional and purposeful, whilst the s class seem to now just be too big for its own good!

The power delivery in my last e350 petrol was too aggresive and harsh. But in this, the power is smooth, and doesnt impact you with a growl or sudden burst, but more like a tsunami wave of power, that you feel right behind you, with out over stressing you or making you feel umcomfortable, as the w211 did.

Infact, i would not feel wrong in saying quality of the power delivery in this diesel is on par with the way the power is delivered in a roller! plenty of reserve power, but no sudden jerks just a relaxing controlled surge of power.

Fuel econony on this new engine is impressive thus far.

I have done near 350 miles and still have over a qtr tank of fuel left. This is incredible.

Overall, i give this new w212 a healthy 8/10.

I think mercedes has created a rather special car with the new e class, and now that i own one, i can see the appeal so much more than what photos and videos could ever show or how i perceived it in the past

Mercedes have not fallen short of their core values.

Anyone with the 211 will definitely see a marked jumped between the new and old!

Anyways, i hope i can make amends to anyone who felt i was insultingly rude in the past.

Good nite!

As a former S Class owner, I now feel officially insulted:rolleyes::devil:

New cars are always fun, enjoy your W212!

Hey Boss, easy fella.

You just take a bit of getting used to is all. Ive been used to you for ages now and look forward to your posts with an air of expectation. As in "whats he up to now" True, in the early days of your forum membership there have been times when I thought you were denighing a village somewhere of a central character:devil::D In the end you just have character:cool: Enjoy your new motor (thanks for the update on how your find it) And as you go into the New Year with a new Mrs and a new motor. Good Luck to you both. Thats you and the Mrs - the motor will be fine.

Praise indeed!!! Your write up here has made me want to try one before I commit to a CLS now! Thanks for confusing me more! hahaha!! Only kidding! Enjoy the car, I look forward to seeing and experiencing this tsunami for myself soon! :)

He who dares ;)
Glad you like your new car D,enjoy it :)

Have to say, have seen quite a few 212s in Vladimir over the last few days and they do look good, even crusted in ice and snow! Sadly, a good friend here has just bought a BMW X5..... I'm not sure if we will be talking to him any more now... :D

hehe... yeah, ban him from calling you until new years day! lol

Ah i still have lost my voice :(

not happy!

Still lost your voice?? Hmmm...time to visit a doctor I think!

Today, I drove in possibly the most hazardous conditions I've ever encountered in a car! When I have some time I'll post some pics wifey took as we slid along!! Compacted snow, ice, more compacted snow followed by a blizzard WHILE we were driving!!! Even with studded tyres, there were times we had ZERO traction!! Fun days eh!! :D Made me realise I MUST buy an X-Trail in the summer! :)

Well if the UK experienced anything like what i can only imagine you are experiencing, the country would shut down for months!

4x4 now? what about snow tyres, or how about lower the air pressure on your tyres = more surface area = more grip = less skidding = getting from A to B! :)

Well, another reason for wanting an X-Trail here is the good ground clearance. Many times my Nissan has grounded 'cos the roads are so humpy and pot holed. Everyone with any money here buys 4x4s for the practicality and the fact that there are loads of off road places you can enjoy of you have the right car! So, I might buy one in UK and drive it over in July! Could be an exciting adventure! :)

After all that praise, so why ONLY 8/10 what is wrong with it, do share with us? :dk:

Nothing is specifically wrong with it.

- the rear view cameras distortion from true image is quite shocking
- the sunroof is set a little far back, thus above you its more black alcantara than glass, not exactly what i had expected
- the adjustment is not as great as the s class, and u cant adjust the depth of lower cushion.
- dont like the plastic switch gear, wish they employed the metal from the s class

as u can see, its just niggles, personality clashes more than flaws! lol

That sounds like it could be fun!

Yeah it makes sense, less so for Urban Jungle here.

thats the beauty, that if u have the landscape to enjoy an off roader, then its something id love to have one day!

what r ur plans for NYE then?

when r u back here BTW!

Yeah, to be honest can't wait to get one and bring it over. In case you're wondering, the reason I wanna buy one here is the fact that it's MUCH cheaper, even with the wickedly high import duty! Also, RHD is cool here and no-one is likely to steal it! LOL!

New Years Eve will be at Irina;s Dads, a big party and then fireworks in the forrest (we live IN the forrest! LOL! Should be a wild night as usual with plenty of booze of various types!! :D All being well with flights etc, should be back on 18th. :)

Hi

Glad your enjoying the new car, will you be making a video of it like the one you made for selling your W211, I think it would make a nice memento of the new car.

Regards

Tan

I assume that the new CLS will be a lot like the W212 and based on my feeling on the current CLS versus the W211, it could be even better.

im in agreement to this!

I liked the 212 when I had it, but now I do not I do miss it. Bar the seat being set waay too high I felt the car was an extremely high product not only in terms of build, but also in the accomplished manner it covered ground both when you were driving at high speed, and also when plodding along.

I know now what I want next has to be an E350cdi. I sampled the 350cdi and the expression "tsunami" is how I would express its power delivery. The 320cdi is a mere tidal wave.

Unfortunately I cannot yet afford a 212 but the 220cdi I had bodes well for the more powerful car, although I am in two minds to get a 250cdi to get the 5speed box, but it needs more power than 170bhp that the 220cdi gives.
