I can't understand your comment re seats being too high -or ***'s. The seat's height is fully adjustable over a range which my tape measure shows is almost identical to the 211 E class. You can lower the seat till you are almost sitting on the floor though why anyone would want to do that is beyond me. Personally I like to sit higher up looking through approx the middle of the screen and where the sun visor works well when needed. If anything I thought the seat could be set higher.
I had a 220cdi 212 for a day and did a few hundred miles. Impressive in most respects. The performance of the 220cdi is quite sufficient for most people and this will continue to be one of the best sellers. With about twice the motorway speed limit available and lots of acceleration to match from the twin turbos, I felt the four pots will easily outsell the sixes. The 250, especially, offers heaps more power than most will ever need on the UK's crowded roads. And like *** I prefer the 5 speed box.
The 212 seemed best to me with the smaller wheels. The optional bigger ones greatly increase road noise and give a harsher ride. I still prefer the looks of the 211, and the interior, but the 212 does drive well and the looks grow on you.
