I'm going to consider it a shed until I cure the annoying whining noise it makes.

I got this after years of owning a new Qashqai, so I haven't had to use a No.10 coaxing hammer for a while. It came with a fancy private plate and a bling grille. I got it two weeks ago and it has the AMG sport pack so the front discs are the size of dinner plates for no good reason.

The reversing sensors don't work and the radio antenna amplifier is toast but I got round that already.

It's a 1.8 Kompressor Avantgarde SE and will need a towbar if I am confident it won't be a total money pit like a Volvo I once had.

I'm always glad to find an owner's forum line this one when I buy a car like this.

Welcome to the forum Mike.

Check the belts and tensioners if you are getting a whine. Helpful if somebody can rev the engine whilst you check.
Are you sure its not the whine of the supercharger you are hearing?
My previous E55 used to really whine on acceleration. Perfectly normal.

The rear parking sensors can be checked using Star diagnostics. Try and find a Mercedes indy (specialist)) who should have Star.
It can check the live data and pinpoint which one(s) are faulty.

Hi.

I have a thread going on about the whine in the engine sub forum. If it's a normal noise I would be amazed. I currently suspect/hope it's the power steering pump. There have been a few cool wet days when it's been less noisy and the car is nice and quiet then.

I'll get to the reversy sensors eventually.

It's a nice car to drive and has held up better for its age far better than the Citroens, Fords and Vauxhall's I was test driving before I tried a Mercedes.
