1998 c250 estate.. my weekend car
well a while back when i bought the C43 interior i also bought a C43 steering wheel off the same guy for £25.. including the air bag.. but the leather was shagged. so after thinking long and hard the best price i could get for a blacl leather and white top was £350 + Vat... ouch.. so decided to go down a slightly different route and had a semi perforated black leather done on the sides and black alcantara on the top and bottom. Am very happy with the end finish and not too worried about the alcantara as its a weekend car so wont get over used.
Price was £220 cash and only took a few days.. a big thanks you to Matt at jd-trimming.co.uk

am thinking of possibly doing the horn buttons in some sort of fake spray on black suede effect maybe to match the alcantara.. what do you think...!!!

ah never thought of that as i do have the carbon interior so it wouldnt look a miss

Wrap the buttons in carbon wrap if not ?

You'd get enough to do those for about a fiver

I'd rather get them dipped instead of wrapped what with being "knobbly" . That's probably what had been done to the ones on ebay

Failing that , I guess you could get some made ? Clive at benzworks will form carbon for you

Nice job, been looking to get my wheel redone for a long time now as well.
Carbon dipped is definitely the way to go for the horn buttons rather than wrap IMO.
Did you ask them if they could have recovered it as it was ie the white/black?

when i bought it i stripped off the leather that was on it as it was totally shagged. the white leather is difficult to get hold of, i did find a company that could do it and get hold of the white perforated leather but it was going to be £350 plus vat.. and i wasnt willing to pay that much... so where would i find the this liquid carbon wrap stuff then

well had a quick look online and have decided am going to get the horn buttons done by a process called hydrographics, its where they immerse the item onto a liquid solution of the carbon which then naturally wraps itself around the object your dipping..sounds and looks really cool..

I like that steering wheel a lot :D I might have to get mine done.

thats great just spoke to the guy and there minimum spend is £50 , i explained to him about the steering wheel buttons and he said they could easily do these in a carbon finish with either a satin or gloss laquer coat :) so getting these in the post asap..

cheers for the link

Mate. Was going to do mine so can join up to save a bit of dosh if you want . Pm me

well the work cost me £220 cash... the steering wheel cost me £25 with the air bag, i also have a steering colum off the same car if someone wants it..lol

well horn buttons are all wrapped up and ready to be sent off to be hydrodipped in a carbon look :)
