So after selling my Golf R32 sometime ago for a deposit on a second house I have been riding around in diesel's. I have been hankering for a V8 for as long as I can remember and have gone through the list of usual suspects, M5, E55, RS4, RS6 etc.... But ended up with this as I felt it offered the best of performance/reliability and I also love a Q car.

The final push which made me get the AMG was a driving experience day at Brooklands in a C63 AMG with the PP. I came away with the biggest grin but to be quite frank I didn't want to spend £30K+ on a C63.

So after random look on the form here I purchased a 2005 C55 AMG in Obsidian Black with fullMB/specialist history and only 50K on the clock which I purchased off Coggers and to be fair is a credit to him and the previous owners.

Car is pretty standard now apart from removal of the secondary Cats and resonator so its sounds a bit nicer then standard.

I haven't got a clue what was standard and what wasn't on the C55 haven't been able to find something that tells you so here is the spec which I got from Mercedes if someone could point out whats standard or not I'd be grateful!

The wheels have been changed for some replica 19" Brabus Monoblock VI 2pc wheels which are 8.5" up front and 9.5" at the rear.

Its going to be my 2nd car as I have a Bora TDI as a daily hack plan is to enjoy it for the moment as its by far the best car I have owned and its my first Mercedes apart from the ones I have driven which Gina owned. I need to get used to a high powered RWD car and then in the future may be release a few more Ponies but not looking to go too mad!

Anyhow some pics

Very nice, look after it well, they are one of the best cars mercedes have ever made, imo.

One of the best mods I have done to mine is the H&R Coilovers, changed the way the car drove, ride is better than standard too.

I'll be taking mine to the South of France this summer, give it a nice blast.

very nice!

very nice! where did you get the mb club sticker?

I will look after it I'm pretty fussy so will be cleaning it weekly. Yeh I will be looking to get coilovers but was unsure what to go for as there seems a pretty limited choice for the C55. Yeh you can't go wrong with H&R products glad they are good I best get saving!!

So a few more simple mods got rid of the orange indicator bulbs in favour of some silvatec variants just to help tidy up the exterior.

After another wash this weekend decided to attack the exhaust tips between the rain here is what I started with

The tools I used Autosmart Tardis (awesome stuff), Autoglym metal polish, fine wire wool, rubber gloves, quick detailer and some old rags you don't mind throwing away.

The end result, not quite perfect but nearly there

Some updates...

Got some LED sidelights to help update the front

Had my B'day recently got some AMG goodies, centre caps and key ring but also a Mercedes Cake :bannana:

Fitted the centre caps to the Brabus wheels

Also felt that the gearknob was a bit too plain so ordered an AMG emblem

Before

After

Done 300 miles in the car so far and loved every single moment, just cant believe how nice it is to live with still surprises me how fast it is :thumb:

Love that badge and love the car

Looks great,

Funny enough just this morning in a line of traffic I was along side what I assumed to be a C32 Estate (as most of these are C32's) however it said C55.

Great looking estate.

Yours must feel superb after getting out of the Bora !!! I suspect the only thing you look forward to in the Bora is 50 + mpg :)
