Hellooo I have a 2004 facelift W203 230k Avantgarde SE and I have only just noticed that my calipers do not say mercedes-benz like I thought they should? They are just you average dull calipers.

My uncle has a 2005 W203 C180 Avantgarde and his has swish looking calipers with mercedes-benz on them?

Any ideas why mine don't? The cars seem identical other than that?

Thanx in advance!

Mike

Does he also have drilled brake discs? Sounds like he has the sports option pack fitted and you didnt..

Thanx for the quick reply :)

I can't remember for sure but he may well have. I bet he doesn't even realise he picked a sport pack option haha :D

Can these be retro fitted? It might sound odd but I think they look much nicer than standard calipers.

Thanx crockers!

Hello television, the calipers on my uncles look like a brembo or AMG style caliper and mine look like your standard calipers without a flat face if that makes sense?

Anything like that can be retrofitted..... best wait until someone with more tech knowledge comes along...but IMHO its just a case of buying them and having them fitted...

If his car is a late 2005 car then that could be correct but I do not think that MB use Brembo

The 2 different versions are in the link,, although it says AMG the same calliper is used on the normal car.

There are some decals on Ebay for them,, but they could look tacky

I don't think they are brembos but they look similar with the flat side and have Mercedes-Benz written where you would normally see Brembo. The car is a 55reg I can't remember the exact date he got it but it must have been the second half of the year.

My calipers look similar to this:

It would be nice to get them retro fitted if possible.

they are on the avantgarde se with the sports pack option, the calipers say mercedes benz and the discs are drilled

They're just the standard brakes. You're dads will be the 'sport pack' option with crossdrilled discs.
I believe they 'are' made by Brembo.

An expensive retro-fit unless you source second hand - like I did.:)

Who knows how he ended up with a sports pack lol!

If I went to mercedes would they be able to give a price or maybe a specialist?

kjay where abouts did you get yours from? Do you have any pictures?

Thanks again for all the replies!

Best go to a specialist -- where are you located?

I'm in plymouth, devon. I'm not sure what specialists there are around here. Probably not many!

Spot on. Exactly right.

Just as an extra little snippet, the sports pack discs are bigger diameter as well as drilled

Two further Sports pack indicators - The wheels are 17" diameter whereas the non-sports pack are 16's and I think the exhaust has a special oval trim.

If you change the discs for the drilled sports pack ones you will also need to change the wheels to 17" to clear the bigger calipers.

I have the Mercedes calipers on my CLK 500 Elegance but without the drilled brake discs. The car has has 17" wheels and sport suspension. I don't think that the discs have been changed as the car had only done 6000 miles when I bought it. Are these standard on the 500?

Yes. Standard issue on the 'larger engined' Mercs is the larger diameter discs (undrilled) and the sports pack "Mercedes-Benz" calipers.

I presume you could swop the discs for the drilled ones quite easily if you wanted. But check first.

kjay those are the exact ones he has! You also have the wheels that I want! :D

How much did they set you back and where from? I asked at merc and they are £400 each + tires!

Do you know the part numbers for the various required bits? I see you sourced yours second hand was it ebay?

Thanx for all the help with this :) any more is welcome!!
