Testing the waters here
Right where do I start!
-2003 W209 CLK270 CDI 'Avantgarde' currently on 111k
-Factory fitted AMG kit very few of these available!
-Factory fitted AMG springs & shocks
-OEM AMG Quad Exhaust
-CLK63 AMG Front bumper
-55mpg+ on motorway
-35mpg+ around town
I purchased the car from MercLand (Nuneaton) back in June 2012 where it had 3 previous keepers, since then I have had it garaged and only really used at the weekends as the job I now have is cycling distance from my home.
It has a full service history :
-23/10/03 - MB of Shrewsbury
-18/10/05 - MB of Shrewsbury
-19/10/07 - MB of Shrewsbury
-24/11/10 - MB of Shrewsbury
-15/03/12 - Snibston Garage Autos
-29/03/13 - AutoKare of Cambridge - Mercedes Specialists
Since purchasing the car I have replaced the following:
- New Gear selector unit (Replaced under warranty from Mercland)
- New Mass AirFlow Sensor
- New Alarm sieren (the internal batteries only last around 8 years)
- New Bosch Sliver Hi-Capacity Battery (last April) £130
- 2x New rear tyres
- New centre highlevel brake light last month - £62 as an LED had failed
- New passenger door control module
The car is taxed until the 31st of March and MOT'd until 19th of May 2014 - HPI Clear document from when I purchased it back in 2012
I have a large folder full of Invoices from Mercedes-Benz of Cambridge from where I have purchased all the OEM components and grills etc - for example, the CLK63 Front centre grill I bought was £150 alone!
As per my threads on the forums, I have completed facelifted both the interior and exterior of the car bringing it up to a 2009 spec, this includes:
Exterior:
-CLK63 AMG Front bumper, grills and foglights
-Facelift Front grill
-Facelift rear light clusters (from AMG/Avantgarde Spec)
Interior:
-Facelift heater/aircon controls
-Facelift Audio20 System
-Facelift upper switch gear
-OEM dashboard cupholder (this is very rare and required half the dash out to fit)
-OEM AMG Floor matts
In addition, I have added:
-OEM CLK55 AMG Rear exhaust box
-OEM CLK63 AMG Rear exhaust pipes 3/4
(All plumbed up and working)
The CLK63 AMG front bumper is extremely rare, there are only around 50 of the cars in RHD and with this bumper, the car looks exactly like that model.
-I had the instrument cluster re-coded to display the outside temp on all screens, tank range in gallons and COMAND enabled for a future install
-Icy cold aircon
-Both motorised arms hand you the seatbelts
Bad bits
The car is, after all nearly 11 years old so it will never be completely perfect.
-Small 1" crack in the front bumper, located below the fog light, I have filled it in to prevent water gaining access, hasnt grown larger at all in the past year
-Number of stone chips on the bonnet (this is very common of the W209 CLK)
-Small beginings of rust appearing on the lip edge of the rear wheel arches - non on the front wings however
-Audio20 system radio does not work, I bought the system as a reject, brand new from a MB parts outlet at a reduced price due to lack of radio
-The volume buttons on the steering wheel do not work as you will need a facelift cluster
The car is in excellent condition for its age, a real headturner and with the original equipment quad exhaust set up and AMG front bumper make it looks £20k yet with 50+mpg
The car has a factory fit AMG kit, which is rare for the W209. Its also the Avantgarde spec (top spec) which comes with factory fit slightly blue tinted windows and real metal dash inserts
