Hi guys, just realised I've never posted pics up of my CLK.

This is a very long winded post btw.

It was a dream car for a long time but insurance was always out of the question until earlier this year (24, 6 years NCB, clean license).

I previously had a CLK430 to try and get rid of the itch but at the end of the day it just wasn't an AMG.

I looked and held out for a Black/Tanzanite blue car for a while but gave up in the end.

Now you may have noticed the car is up for sale at the minute, quite frankly the Mrs is pregnant (1st child) so she's insisting on a 4 door family car but I've persuaded her otherwise!

Anyway enough blabber.

As I bought it:

90 odd thousand on the clock, FSH and all the usual.

One thing that immediately put me off was the 10 previous owners but I think it's pretty reasonable for a high maintenance/thirsty car that is now 13 years old. The condition of the car however spoke for itself. It has minimal rust on the leading edges of the front arches, none on the rear arches/doors etc no dinks/dents and is generally pretty damn tidy. Drives very well too and absolutely pulls like a train.

Spec was also fantastic with every option ticked other then PDC I think. I keep meaning to get sensors installed on the rear bumper but it's not a priority.

Anyway enough blabber. As always, excuse the Iphone pics which are then destroyed by Photobucket!

How I bought her..

Since then I've done a few small mods including:

Flat AMG bonnet badge
Secondary cat delete
LED side lights, puddle lights and number plate lights
Pioneer Double din sat nav unit
18" Staggered SL55 turbines with 225/40 and 255/35's on.

Sorry, pics are repetitive but I like em!

Plans in order:
Service & new Pagid pads (stock Jurid pads are too dusty when you have 20 billion spokes to clean)
New Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's all round but with 265's on the rear instead of 255's
Lowering springs to level the car out, rear is ok at the minute but the fronts an inch too high
15mm spacers for the rear as the front wheels have a lower offset so 'poke' more than the rears which F's me off lol :wallbash:
Repaint the front end and paint the roof gloss black

There will be a subtle audio install carried out in the coming weeks to replace the oem Bose items.

I also have plans to install a QTP exhaust bypass valve/cutout so I can maintain the cars quiet cruising nature while having the ability to be a chav when I feel the need. :D

Anyway, thanks for reading!

Looks cracking!
I'll always have a soft spot for the 208, having had one.

Great to see you looking after it.

Nice Car.... but what the hell is up with those black gates and the 'Georgian' windows a few doors down?

What's wrong with the black gates? My car lives behind them. Happy days. :D

I didn't post a look at my gates/neighbours windows thread on accident did I? :fail

Looks like you are trying to hide something behind them (eg, drugs factory) no offence intended!

Love those alloys, fancy a swap ;)

No thanks! :p

No offence taken, each to their own. Not sure what makes you think that though, either way back to the car, thanks for the positive comments!

Nice car mate :thumb: I think I would prefer 18" staggered Monoblocks on it

Car looks great, what happened to the 17" (I am guessing) amg's?

Thanks, they were the standard AMG's, sold them bud.

Hey Justin,

I did want 18" mono's but they're very much the done wheel for Merc's of this vintage so I thought the turbine's would help freshen the car up and give a more modern AMG look.

It desperately needs a drop though, I'd be happy with 10mm on the rear and 25-30mm up front for a nice raked look.

If funds allow I'd really like to get some big 6/4 pots off a newer AMG in the future. I've got a million plans tbh, just need to save up and execute them one by one.

Tidy looking wagon - I think silver does these cars a great justice - black, though appealing can age a car like this in my opinion

Nice car.

I'm just about to become the owner of a 2004 W209 CLK55 myself.

Engines similar lol.

Thanks for the kind comments.

I think I'm going to order lowering springs and new tyres next week!

Eibach springs would be a good choice.
Koni shocks too, if you want to change them.

I had Eibach's and Koni adjustables on my 208.
They were great.

Another thing to bear in mind, is that you can tweak the ride height by changing the spring pads too.

They come in different widths.
The widths are indicated on the side of each spring pad by little nodules.
1 nodule= thinnest spring pad
5 nodules= thickest spring pad.

Can't remember the mm increments though.

Thanks Rashman, your 208 looked great. Do you recall what pads you had?

I'm going to go with Eibach pro's with no 1's on the front and 3's on the rear. The reason for 3's on the rear is my little stereo set up drops the rear a few mm anyway and I prefer a slightly raked look.

I have considered upgrading the shocks but mine seem to be in good nick and tbh it's an expense I could do without as I'm ordering new tyres too.

I want to repaint the front end too before investing further in chassis mods.

Yeah, I hear you bud.

I think I had #2 pads at the front and #4 pads at the rear on my 208.

Regarding shocks, you can always look to do them at a later date if your current ones are in good nick.
Just thought I'd mention it as it'd be easier to do it all in one hit.

Most definitely, I did consider it but I want new tyres more. :D

BTW, did you buy your 63 new?

Didn't buy the 63 new.
But it only had 5500 miles on it and was in mint condition.
It was the only one available through MB at the time.

Paid cash and got it for nearly half the price it was brand new

Hate to say it but after having driven a friends 350z I'm smitten and so the CLK will be back up for sale, of course I'm still very fond of the car so if it doesn't sell at the price I want it'll simply stay. :)

I wish I could afford both but it's not viable. If I get a Z I'll look into an A class or something for family duties so I won't leave the fold completely.
