Following Steve(SJMaxwell)'s thread last week I bought one of these things..

Went for the 11.4l prefilled unit from Daqua, again from the previous thread I thought I'd save myself the adventure of filling it myself for another day. It was around £110 delivered.

A bit dubious this morning, thought I would give it a try. Left me loads of time to get the water marks off if it didn't work...

I am using just mains pressure, no jet wash.
My setup is: tap, 3m of hose, vessel, 1m of hose, into 25m hosepipe reel.
TDS reading from tap was 288. Reading at the end of the hosepipe after flushing a few litres through it was 0.

I hosed the car down with the DI water using spray attachment on the hose.
Quick 2 bucket wash with Sonax Gloss Shampoo (my current favourite, it won me over from Megs Gold Class).
Rinsed each section as I went, sheeting water using the hose and no attachement.
Left the thing to dry.

Total time, about 30 minutes.

I'm quite startled by the result to be honest, and annoyed I didn't know about these things sooner. Couple of pics attached, taken while it was still drying to prove I didn't go over it with a towel afterwards....

If you clean your car yourself, buy one. Seriously.

Well worth it wasn't it:thumb:

It's fascinating how it dry's without any marks

Thanks for the info Fryingpan, is it no more complicated than your description to use?

Nope, that's it. The vessel has standard hose lock type connectors on it, so just plug in and go.

Have a look at sjmaxwell's thread about filling it. I bought mine prefilled as the cost was negligible, will need emptying and refilling at some point but should have plenty of life in it for now.

I see, do I need to purchase the meter reader separately or is it part and parcel of it? Have just looked on the website and its £110.68 del, filled with MB-115, I take it thats the one? Apologies for all the questions, just want to make sure I buy the right one!

Yes that the one, at the top of the page I think.

The meter is separate. Not absolutely necessary but nice to know it's doing something, and allows you to keep an eye on it so you know when to replace the MB-115 inside it.

I got the TDS-3 meter from the same place, from memory it was about £9.

I bought this as an alternative: Aqua Gleam De-Ionising Water Filter Complete With Hose Fittings Stops Watermarks | eBay, the 0PPM one, it just clips into the hose with hoselock connectors.

I wash my car with tap water and snow foam through my jetwasher, then I plug this in line with the jetwasher (it says you shouldn't) and rinse off the car, hey presto no water marks.

I may well invest in a DI vessel when this has stopped working or I may just buy another one of these depending on longevity.

Mine will come into it's own tomorrow at 5am, as I need to wash and go (to TRAX.).

Im sold do you have a link to the one you purchased please.

Thanks again, just ordered it all, the TDS-3 meter was a hand held one @ £15, was looking at the in line ones and have taken your advice.:thumb:

Unfortunately wont be able to use it until I am home in 4 weeks! :(

One reason I bought the vessel and resin separately is that at some point the resin will need replacing. On my 11litre tank I'll get 2 and nearly a third refill for £75 and with the tank of eBay (seller divessel) for less than £40 along with a £5.95 meter from another eBay seller the cost is a little lower long term

Washed another of the cars today.

I'm not sure if this will show up properly, but I rinsed the left half of the rear screen with normal tap water, right hand side with water from the vessel and let it dry.

Hopefully you can see loads of water marks on the left, nice and shiney on the right.

For the first time this morning I did a wash and go, rinsing the car off and driving away with it still dripping - no drying at all.

A bit of a gamble really as it was straight to TRAX, where the clean boys go .

I needn't of worried - completely streak and spot free.

Very impressive indeed.

As a footnote I used the DI throughout, not just as a final rinse, my logic being that some of the "dirty" tap water may find it's way out of nooks and crannies, causing some marks.

This will reduce overall resin life, but I think it's worth it.

Cinek's 2nd set of TRAX photos show a picture.

I can witness was really shiny and marks free .
Lovely wagon btw!:)

The best indication is whether or not the windscreen is spot free
