Thanks. Tried it and nothing appears to happen. There's no option on the cluster to turn the function on/off as far as I an see either :dk:

Looking at your pictures... You do have the active cornering headlights.

It needs to be switched on via star.

Olly turned on the option in star after replacing my BCM.

If there is a fault message in the cluster after turning the option on then the previous owner was hiding the fact that either one or both headlights are faulty.

About £600-£650 per headlight from the dealers.

Or if you know how to spot them on eBay £40-£140... Doubt you will find any, I keep buying them for spares :D

The taillights aren't facelift, the headlights are though.

Looks a good example, but be prepared for a hard slog if you're looking for strong money; I've seen a few clean W211 E55's take a while to sell because the price has been over enthusiastic.

Correct, the prices are too high.

I watch the market for interest and it usually takes months to sell. Even the ones that are priced at £7k-£8k don't sell quickly (they aren't in dog condition either).

Ive noticed this too having been looking for a long while. The only ones that sell very quick are non silver cars. Almost all on the market currently sub 10k are silver except a cat c blue one.
 
This is why I decided to spend some money and upgrade what I have.

For me, I cannot see the point in selling the car until it becomes very expensive to run or unreliable.

For £8k, there isn't anything to touch it for that all round ability...

Just need some monies in the bank for when the SBC pump goes and Airmatic fails but these cars are fast approaching very low depreciation now so as you are not forking out for much depreciation or even the higher post 03/2006 road tax prices - it doesn't seem so bad considering the amount of fun that can be had out of them.
 
Ok, so my car has 94k miles, FSH (dealers then MB specialists) and the next service is not due for another 6k+ miles, MOT, tax etc etc.

Would you say £8700 was a reasonable ask?

I say that's a good price for the spec. You will probably lower the price anyway if you ask £9k+.

Also you have the added bonus of SBC pump being replaced in 2007, should help the sale a lot.

Apologies if you think I'm being blunt but you've got almost no chance asking £8700 for a 52 plate E55; I've seen at least half a dozen '04/54 plates (with the updated electronics) struggle to achieve that sort of money.
 
I think you're right. It has some desirable options, but only to the right buyer.
Most only care about the motor under the bonnet!

SPX is right... 52 will struggle... Also being 52 reg I assume you have the small screen Comand, the one with the cassette tape input just below the screen?
 
Its hard as I only wanted to buy from a dealer for the flexibility to pay with part exchange and I stuck some of it on a credit card. The credit card was an extra form of protection encase something went wrong, in the past Ive been able to claim the cost of a replacement engine via credit card company.

£8700 is like the top end dealer price for a 52 plate, granted it has some really nice options. But like myself a lot of buyers just buy the colour and engine. As long as that's spot on I didst really care about options.
 
I also think that is too much money for a 2002 example.

Options can make the car more saleable but only really if the car is within the price range of other similar-age examples.

I didn't care about the options - what was more important was the car was straight, was running well with good history in the right colour for me.

That said, I did want the Karman Hardon sound system but in hindsight, I'm glad I didn't because I've not heard good things about the sub and I installed my own. The rest of the system is great to start with in terms of quality.
 
Got the Karman in mine... Slightly better than standard but I think the Bose systems are better.

It has the full size COMAND, no cassette input.
 
So seems my valuation is 'enthusiastic'...anyway, like I said any genuine interest with a genuine offer would get my attention, otherwise will just have to let market forces do its thing.

You seem to be under the impression that there's a line of buyers waiting to snap up 12 year old E55's for £2k more than it's worth?

Like I advised earlier, E55's that are newer with the updated electrics struggle to sell for what you're asking, so unless you're expecting a fruit loop to offer you £10k it simply won't sell.

I think you've misunderstood my post. I've made no suggestion of a line of buyers waiting to pay more than a car's worth. I'm actually agreeing when I say that perhaps I have valued my car enthusiastically. This isn't even a for sale post, more a 'what do you fellow forum members/E55 owners think' type post.
Secondly, when I say I'll give my attention to genuine offers from genuine buyers, that means I'll entertain someone who wants to know details about the car, is interested in viewing the car, and has cash in their bank. If they offer £6700 then so be it. I might not accept that but at least I know it's a genuine offer and not forum fantasising. Hence, my reference to market forces, I believe I live in the real world.
Hope that's made things clear.
