After a flurry of old 80s Audis and an 86 E30 BMW ive now purchased a 2006 C180K with no service history and probably a few problems.
I do like a challenge though so wish me luck :)
I also own a few Hillman Imps which ive had for well over 30 years .
Il post up what ive done so far soon but so far its behaved itself rather well :)

Not a bad little motor. But do yourself a favour and research the cam chain/sprocket issues relating to this engine. even with 100% MB service history they have been know to fail catastrophically, sending the car directly to the scrap yard.

It is well known and well documented , the Mitsubishi part of the engine was poorly designed and often gives little or no warning before the cam chain slips on the (weak) worn sprockets with disastrous results. Depending on mileage these parts may have already been replaced - beware cheap 'Chinese' parts, as these were (allegedly) the problem in the first place - With no service history this is a prority for you.

Mileage showing on this car ?

Welcome to the forum.

Looks like a "Sport" version with those nice wheels, should have drilled discs as well. Had a 53 plate , one of the first "Sport" versions, 200 kompressor.Mercs first attempt to mimic BMW's M sport packages on the 3 series.

Its on the list of things to look at , mileage is 126,000 , ive sorted the leaky cam magnets and the oil blockers which is a start , it is a sport spec one , auto with flappy paddles and sport suspension - whatever that is , bodywork is nigh on mint as is the interior

Petrol Pete , how easy ( or hard ) is it to check the cam chain and sprockets for wear , do you need to rip the engine into 100 pieces just to take a look or is it possible without too much dismantling , im used to Imp engines not these - its all rather new

Hi, Remmoc, welcome, looks like a nice motor, any chance of a few pics of your imps, like them. :)

Had an Imp van about 45 years ago, great little car , only got rid of it when my first child arrived. Yours look look lovely

booked in for a star test Thursday - wonder what it will pick up

Star test done . Took 20 minutes to download and clear all the stuff on it then once cleared retested to see what came up.
Two faults showing .
First was the Crank sensor - i had a feeling this might crop up as every now and again all the dash warning lights would come on for 1/2 second and the engine would cough .
Second fault was the alarm module , I replied " What alarm !!! " , he said the one thats not working :p, apparently it can drain the battery over time like this .
Anyway the cam chain / timing / sprockets etc are fine . Ive left it there for them to sort these two things out as driving with an iffy crank sensors not a good idea .
So all in all a good result :)

Well Ingrid failed the MOT on a squiffy O/S headlight bulb ( working but fitted wrong and not by me ) Then passed the MOT after said bulb was fitted correctly.
However it was a bit tight on the emissions to say the least.

As Basil Faulty said in Flowery twats i think it needs a right good thrashing 79326268_10221474954082918_8802088152308121600_o.jpg 79322667_10221474960363075_5804516054205988864_o.jpg
