Black 2005 C55 AMG
My long wait finally ended last Monday when I collected the 2005 C55 that Ive been after for sooo long, the 90 miles journey home was great, only floored it once and was well impressed, returned a surprising 26 mpg (It was motorway crusing nearly all the way).

After a few days driving around I just love the noise, such a relaxed car when you want it to be, then give it some encouragement and it just flies, I can safely say using my favourite stretch of straight safe dual carriageway road that I always use to test my cars speed, this C55 is quicker than my previous 315 bhp Impreza and 400 bhp Evo IX.

Little things I like about it are the passenger mirror dips automatically to the floor when you reverse, the rear Parktronic display above the rear seats and the fog & side lights coming on when you unlock the car in the dark.....just little things that I thought were nice touches!!

Couple of questions:-

What size should the front profile tires be? I have 35mm on the rear and 40mm of the front?

Should the rear speaker covers have a Harman Kardon logo on both speakers?

Reat electric blind doesn't work, I can hear a clickling noise but it won't work, fuse is ok.

Here's some a before pic and 2 after a good wash and dry, the bonnet has been cut twice using a cutting compound & mop, then glazed & waxed, the rest of the car will have a mop, glaze & wax as soon as we get better weather!!

A quick thanks to Mark for a smooth sale:)

Nice car! Its beautiful :thumb:

Regarding the rear speakers logo, i was wondering the same thing as my CLK 55 has Bose, so surley there should be logo somewhere? :dk:

Anyone know?

Gorgeous looking C55 :)

Not sure about tyre profiles...As far as I know, these are standard sizes:

Front: 225/40/18
Rear: 255/35/18

Nice one, looks great well done you waited for ages for one:thumb:

The stock sizes are:
Front: 225/40/18
Rear: 245/35/18

When I get new tyres i'm going for a wider rears and maybe fronts as well for better traction, the only thing annoyes me about the c55 is the lack of traction it needs an LSD so bad.

you can fit 255/35/18 or 265 at the rears and the fronts will take 235/40/18, I woudn't have it any wider on the fronts!

Regarding the HK speakers, no only on one of them, that's how mine is and i've seen a couple of c55's which are the same!

Our blue 430 has Bose and has logos on the back speakers.

Alfie or the owner before him could have removed the HK badges.

lovely car, enjoy!

One rear speaker has a HK logo on the other doesn't, so I presume thats the way its meant to be, just looks odd with one!

Any clues as to the rear blind not working?

Lovely car and looks very tidy!.
Enjoy your AMG ownership

Look after those front discs and pads as they are new.....;)

The clicking could be a stuck motor or mechanism. Not hard to check

Same as my old one - very jealous!

The HK logo is only on the rear nearside speaker for some reason.:dk:

It looks fabulous. I miss it. Im pleased you find it quicker than the EVO's etc. I know that AMG always under-rate their power outputs and wouldnt be at all suprised if it was nearer the 400BHP mark anyway. It has been very very well looked after and im sure will continue to be.

I hadnt used the rear blind for months and months. Its probbaly just stuck thats all. You can easily get to it. Loosen the three bolts in the boot holding the rear parcel shelf down, lower the back seats and you should be able to get to it.

The tyres and wheels are absolutely standard and as per the proper spec. I always kept it completely standard. It is the most highly specced and rare colour combination ive ever seen, hence I had to buy it. Glad you are pleased with it. Just dont forget that you agreed to call me first if you ever decide to sell it;)

Mark what make & grade of oil did you have put it in at its last service?

Not sure to be honest. Its whatever Tony Purslows (Guildford Mercedes) use. Olly recently changed the ATF fluid in the gearbox aswell.

Very beautiful car! Either it was kept in mint shape and/or you are an expert polisher. The whole car looks as good as brand new, straight from the production line. I like the rim design too!
